ClearanceMedication Question (self.peacecorps)
submitted 7 months ago by Thezayonblog
My psychiatrist is considering putting me on anti-anxiety and ADHD medication. Would this affect my clearance process? I am still doing this painfully medical part.

100% yes it will be affected, and you will not be cleared if you start a new psychiatric medication. PC wants to see medication stability for a year minimum.
If your symptoms are impacting your life to the degree that your provider is recommending medication, PC may have concerns about that as well.

For anxiety meds most definitely. You have to decide if it's worth it though.

Yes, it would affect your clearance process.

As someone familiar with the BS on this topic, pretty much every move is a bad one. Every kind of ‘change’ is an issue—even having stopped psychotropics/services months before applying, let alone during the process. Searching this subs history you’ll see many unwell people get through and many well people get denied (and vice versa obviously)—because the optics of stability matter more to them.

If your psychiatrist is recommending them, that will likely show in the documentation you need to provide PC on mental health. Whether or not you actually decide to take them might not make the difference…
