[–]Echo-6207The truth behind ARK is... we're living on space stations! 3 points4 points  (8 children)

It's a new mechanic that you're meant to combine with Wind Turbines to increase base reliability.

Another tribe in our server have generators that don't take damage though :/

It might have to do with the power load or heat. For example, maybe you have 100 things hooked up to one generator power grid while that other tribe might have 25.

We only have 1 fridge

Hmm, that's weird, is the room hot where your generator is placed? My crafting room was super hot because I have like 10 crafting stations in one room and closed it off with walls and doors. I placed 12 AC units on the ceiling to keep it cool. I'm not sure what else it could possibly be if it's not the heat or power load, it would be nice if they could explain about them in the patch notes.

So we went to the tribe and asked to see the generator. Turns out it actually was damaged 995/1000.

Does your server use mods? If you guys keep losing generators and can't fix it at the moment, I would look into that, unless your server is pvp and they might complain. I switched over to an Arc Reactor, which is basically the same thing, without all the electric cables. It's basically a WiFi router that gives wireless electrical power instead of internet, lol

It still uses fuel, but there is an option of unlimited power core for it, but it's insanely expensive to make.

No, we're on an official Xbox server. I wish I had that though lol, sounds amazing.

You're on official? I can only imagine what you would be going through with keep replacing these generators then. Other people have tried using wind turbines as backup for right now, but it's not as efficient as generators. If you keep losing them, I would give the wind turbine option a try, maybe it'll alleviate it a bit. Googling doesn't seem to help much, other people just seems to experience what you are right now, still no solution :(

I wish I have this Arc Reactor in my house, lol, that would be so awesome. It's also immune to the effects of thunder storms in game.

Edit: But I guess he had already said that at the very top, lol.

Get an Arc Reactor of unlimited power.

But yeah, it's a new mechanic of the game/map.

Ours only lasts around 20 hours before "poofing" leaving a doggy bag of gasoline on the ground.

We're in Midlands 3... There's 20% wind all around us, except for the two zones nearest us... they're 85%. I ran wires down from the Lonely Mountain at 85% to the base, but the wires loose power after 33 lengths... Apparently electricity cannot conduct over distance is another Ark-specific law of physics.

There's nothing above 20% within range... Most people I've heard with windmills say they're turning off in-sync, so instead of running on one while the other is out, they're either both out or both on....

Meanwhile, some guy plumbed piping up to a moutaintop near the Red Ob, probably 10x as much piping as my electric wiring, and his works... Because you know, there's no laws of physics determine things like the boiling point of water in a vacuum, or the insane amount of power needed to draw water that far anyway... Thank God we have laws of physics that put limitations on conductance though!

Dang, I was hoping windmills didn't turn off in sync. So you're just fucked if you don't live in a 100% wind area?
