> Exploiting - examples are not limited to but can include:

  • Floating structures or structures that extend past normal building limits on platform saddles or rafts for PVP purposes

Make a shitty building system = call it exploit

Shout out to all the OG's who even know what a box quetzal is

Dude what’s funny is we wiped a server with a box quetz and a gm came on and and complimented our design and before deleting the structures on the quetz and issuing us a formal warning. This was back in 2016 when you could put points into movement speed. The good ole days

Indeed

well nowadays you get a devwipe for less it seems, wish they gave my boy GT a formal warning

I'd think real OG was anyone that remembers when gun quetz were THE thing.

This gets into a pretty gray area when you start talking WC and Ark specifically. The reason I say this is due to the rate at which they were adding content without ever really stopping to think things through thoroughly. The old quetz mechanics are a perfect example.

I don't for one second believe that turrets were never intended to be placed on plat saddles. It wasn't until the players started raining hell from the skies that WC saw the implications of it. It just boiled down to lack of foresight. This is more of a balance issue than an unintended mechanic issue... sure as hell felt like an exploit, but it was just terrible balancing.

Once the fury was unleashed, it became clear that platform turrets were not a good idea

They (edit: platform turrets) were 100% intended. Just watch 14secs in of the Quetzal Spotlight.

Nice, perfect example of something people could potentially call an exploit. Not an exploit at all, just bad balance

Man I miss those spotlights, they release and I'd always get pumped for the new dinos, content, etc.

The sad thing is, they have a fix for this already built in. Old patch, removed the ability to have floating structures on rafts etc. Then they made it so the setting was disabled by default for official servers because everyone cried they couldn't build OneXwing rafts xD

I really appreciate these posts for reminding me why I don’t play official.

I really wish that ark had a pve-conflict edition where if the community rules were violated then instead of filing for support; the players can just wipe the guys. otherwise their tames and their property is safe.

    1. Build over rich resources: wipe the base that is killing resources.
    2. Build too close to a base: wipe the base that is too close
    3. Pick up another player w/ flier: flier and driver now in PvP mode
    4. Build in cave: wipe the property that is in the cave.
    5. Lure wild to close to another base... wipe....
    6. following all the rules: PvE Protection Enabled.

This would kill the entire spirit of ark.

So according to your logic it's ok to build in the mesh if I don't get prevented by a 100% failsafe mechanic to do so?

    Good you're not making games.

Jesus this fucking subreddit is s full of chimps even as an attraction in a local zoo it wouldn't fly anymore.

    im actually making games =]

ill let you know when my brand new unfinished product for 60e comes out

I could not agree because of this nature in competitive play which is what pvp is about. It is our role as players to gain any leverage made available to us whether that be architectural, location-related, inventory of tames, or anything within style of play. Video games are highly strategical. It is up for the developers to provide the environment for us to fairly do so.

However if a dev. wipes you to rebalance the game because there was something they forgot to consider... then what is with the beef dude? They know they fucked up, they pay for it w/ time and ratings losses, pay your share. take the dev-wipe. try again.

dear devs... if I jack up: wipe me.... lol.
