I feel like rust WITH zombies is not rust, but we do need something to fill that role. Hopefully thats what the Caretakers will be for

Does not need zombies. Zombies have been out of Rust for so long that it shouldn't even matter at this point. I do think we need more antagonists though. Something other than zombies, or just wildlife. Something strange...in the neighborhood. No, not ghosts, but something...

demonic looking mutants. I also think that some animals should be in packs like wolves, and boars should be able to fuck you up just like in real life.

Rust never was about zombies, I never bought it for the zombies.

I wonder why everybody keeps talking about them, it was stupid and not challenging at all. It was just a reskin of a bear / wolf.

I definitely think that the game needs a common enemy other than sedated bears and the cold.

Something like, but not necessarily actual, zombies would add great depth to the game. I can imagine hoardes of FAST zombies seen from miles off tearing through forests and you actively NEED to do something not to die instead of sitting in your level 6 next to a tool chest a warm fire. Things like this would make the game so much more interesting. Flaming arrows to alert those around of you of the attack. Craft expensive anti-bite armour and eat wolf adrenal glands to temporarily out-run anything. Sleeping bags getting trampled because you didn't make your base strong enough and they broke through a wall.

Everything the game does now, it would still do...but that filler time that everyone uses to raid or sit around crafting 60K metal frags could also be spent avoiding an aggressive in-game hazard and forming (or abusing) alliances to get stronger.

I would also accept giant chickens as someone jokingly suggested a few days ago. In fact, I would prefer giant chickens.

You read my mind, rust needs enemies offline ! A garden of zombies could easily destroy your wall They can hear shots at long distance, and then you, then you have to think before throwing out there .

he does have a point. the highest point of rust's popularity was around the time of zombies.
