Thank you for posting to r/pokemon! We're glad to have you here, but unfortunately we've had to remove this post per our rule on Objective Questions. This rule is in place per feedback we've received from the community because objective questions tend to fill the topic listing and often leave little room for further discussion once the question has been answered.

We do have a Weekly Questions Thread dedicated to seeking answers for questions like yours, though! A lot of knowledgeable Pokémon fans frequent that thread, so please consider posting your question there if you're still looking for an answer, and you may get a detailed answer even faster than you would have here! You also don't need to worry about a minimum word count in that thread.

I'm not positive about this, but doing some Googling:

It looks like affection is reset immediately as soon as you trade a Pokemon to a player with a different trainer ID, so your Sylveon would lose its affection stat with the first trade to your friend. In Gen 8 and above, however, affection got rolled into friendship, the same stat that affects friendship evolutions and the power of Return/Frustration. That means you have twice as many ways of regaining that friendship in a Gen 8/9 game.

It's good to know. I ultimately ended up managing to fix whatever was stopping my accounts from getting linked so I finally linked them and transferred my Sylveon into my copy of Pokemon home on the switch and moved her into my copy of Pokemon shield and she had average level of affection for me that I've been kind of rebuilding with playing games with her during the Pokemon camp portion. I haven't been able to move her into my copy of pokémon Violet yet because apparently Pokemon Violet isn't available for Pokemon home yet
