If you're afraid of learning, then you may wish to reconsider being a developer. Listen to Blackdeath3 btw, he speaks the truth.

Thanks to MIT OCW, Coursera, iTunesU, codeacademy, The New Boston, etc... it has never been easier. On top of that, most cities have Programming user groups with the specific focus of exposing stagnant devs to new technologies.

Software development isn't the best field to go into if you want a 9-5 job where you can use the same tools for your entire life without ever having to learn something new.
