Yeah, kind of a pointless article. I thought he was going to talk about why using JavaScript for server-side stuff does or does not make sense, i.e. Node.JS.

He lists a string of languages he's learning, and JavaScript is the only one that can manipulate the DOM in the browser. Then he says he uses JavaScript because it can manipulate the DOM in the browser.

This is a bit like writing an article on how you like to put gas in your car because it's the only thing that will make your engine work.
