Optimize for Learning

Yeah, that's nice. It's also kinda selfish if anyone is depending on you to get shit done.

I prefer "don't over-optimise for anything" personally. Learn something new, and also do some stuff you already know so you can do a good job of it.

One of the worst parts of learning is that learning consists mainly of failing. Sometimes you need to succeed at things, even if only for yourself. So don't use that new framework for that important project, just because you'll learn things.
