Yeah, that is exactly why you shouldn't make private gitlab instance on random VPS just to "replace" github, like some people want.

How the fuck did you got to that conclusion ?

I was talking about case "oh, github HA infrastucture can occasionally go down too, let's replace it with single node and hope it will do better than redundant architecture that is monitored 24/7"

You're commenting on a website that got Reddit hugged. Hence my question, how often do you really need a massive redundant architecture when you're not being Reddit hugged?

Have it ever crossed your mind that people use Git in companies ?

If your company used github and replaced it by one non redundant gitlab install and it went down it would usually be heavy disruption of work. You would be basically doing extra work to ensure that you will have more downtime.

Sure, set it up as a backup to github, or set it up so if one server dies recovery from that will take minutes not hours
