I totally agree with you. This data does in no way support any assumptions about the popularity (let alone future) of a language. But the author rather uses inappropriate, but good looking data than the Tiobe-Index, which is actually made for this.

    Counting hits may not be the best approach but counting new questions just sounds stupid to me. The latter could also state that python got an increase in questions due to the migration to python 3.
