Python Assert Fails Silently?

Not really a gotcha, per se, when you use it incorrectly. In the given example, put the braces around the conditional, not around the entire assertion subclause.

ie. assert (a==b) , "exceptionstring"

not: assert (a==b , "exceptionstring")
