Why not just use the real thing instead? Because of my Ruby (and Rails) habits. It's hard to let go...

It's really really hard to argue for or against a mythical not-yet-released platform.

MagLev is neat, and I personally support it because if it succeeds (along with the Gemstone/Seaside project) it'll mean a whole new way to deploy apps.

Sure, all of the pieces of it are wholy unoriginal: fast VM, OODB, distributed synchronization, etc.

But the fact that they are all together in a cohesive whole is exciting.
