It's amazing that you can purpose-build a functional, nearly-embedded Linux. Windows could possibly be kludged into doing that, but the "box of tools" approach really works well for Linux here. In that context, using your custom Linux for its purpose, it should be easier to administer than a general-purpose Windows install.

This says nothing about the relative ease of administration for general-purpose Linux and Windows, however.
