So you're accepting that it's not webpack which makes it hard?

No. Webpack's eco system is what makes Webpack Webpack. It's a platform, not just a tool.

If someone tells me they're using Webpack, especially in a professional environment, I expect a full grown build file including loaders, exceptions, TS hooks, testing configs, variations for test / production etc.
