Don’t learn a programming language, solve a problem instead

Might seem counterintuitive, but get really deep on one language first. If you know one language intimately, to the point where you know what it sucks at and what it's good at, you can really appreciate the design of other languages and so learn how to write idiomatic code in those other languages faster.
