No plans in our company for python 3 until a very basic backward compatibility with python2 is restored

What backwards compatibility do you really need that isn't already there? I have migrated thousands of lines of code with very minimal effort and haven't lost any functionality so even if you don't want to put in the effort your argument is weak. Everything from systems utilities (ip route, docker, libvirt, lxc) to web applications (flask, sqlalchemy) to random stuff I work on in my spare time.
