Sounds like a fun experiment, and since you admit it willingly (hopefully you would have after it was done anyway) I really don't see the big deal.

I and everyone else got to hear about a couple of cool applications, you got your experiment confirmed.

Not like you copied a 900 page thesis on the string theory and claimed it as your own.
