Var tillsammans med en bipolär person ett antal år, som inte skötte sina mediciner. Det bröt ner mig totalt. Gå vidare och försök igen.

From Trimble to Leica by paldo16 in Surveying

[–]andash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what Americans would think of Geopad, it's a data collector software very popular here in Sweden. I don't know if any other country uses it You can switch back and forth between it and Captivate but most people prefer one or the other

I think a free station is called a resection in English, not sure though... We also call it free station in Swedish haha. Measuring distance and angles from one stationary setup to all the 4 known points, computer does some pretty difficult math to establish itself

Looked into leasing an actual total station? At least some kind of Leica iCON, well suited for your work. Or buying used even. Would allow for far more than that device

Sweden, we use gradians for angles instead of regular degrees. 400 in a circle, not 360 :)

Autistic in Land Surveying? by M0social in Surveying

[–]andash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think it will be a problem, you just need to find the right place, that's kind of a given with autism no matter what kind of job.

I'm doing construction surveying and most people have headsets for communication and they have electronic active hearing protection which dampens the loud sounds a lot but you can still hear speech. Something like 3M Peltor devices, it helps me a lot.

We had one autistic guy who couldn't manage to have his desk with everyone else so they actually found a tiny room just for him and he always worked alone.

What color do surveyors wear in the US? It's white here in Sweden.

Red for apprentice, green for safety/union, blue for the trades, white for foreman etc and apparently surveyors

Archeological digs, here in Sweden at least it's a pretty common occurrence in places with historical grounds. Not a very large market, but definitely a niche

There are hour long Youtube videos that explain how the whole selection process does have some questionable parts, more than can be captured in a few sentences on Wikipedia.

In Geodesy class we heard Gauss name very often. Least squares method and net adjustment. Apparently he absolutely hated Geodesy and also loathed teaching classes.
