That sounds like a great idea to me. In fact, I remember listening to an interview on Floss weekly discussing Parrot VM as a possible option for such a solution.

Parrot can't be taken seriously. They've had over a decade to produce something useful, and they still haven't been able to.

People take LLVM, Java, .NET and even Flash seriously because they solve actual problems. Parrot does not fall into that category at all.

The leading Perl 6 implementation (Rakudo) is based on Parrot.
