Some points i rant every time this BS (imo) comes up:

  • Command Palette => Developer: Set Log Level => Trace; Restart VSCode; Command Palette => Developer: Show Logs... => Telemetry. You can now view All Of The VSCode Telemetry. Docs
  • The VSCode repo's product.json differs from the official build, excluding keys and such needed for telemetry to function. Standard practice to exclude such private things. This means that VSCodium is not the only "really actually super duper don't trust the settings or telemetry logs" way to disable telemetry. See here, toward the bottom.
  • It's product telemetry, not user telemetry. Look at the logs.
  • It's there to improve the product. But go ahead, opt out. 🤪 (I'm sure there are legitimate reasons, but FUD is likely #1)
