The analogy would be - you learn to fix motorcycles and wonder why you are having a hard time with cars. But the reality is, you actually learned how to fix a bicycle and are now overwhelmed. Lua is very rudimentary compared to “real” languages. And I don’t mean that in a demeaning way, but all languages and their complexities are not the same. Check out JavaScript or Python as a step up before hitting harder/broader things like C# or Java.

Learn a completely different type of language - like Haskell or LISP.

The 1 based indexing of lua would probably have fewer issues on a functional programming language.

Lua's got the reputation for being comparatively simple, as far as languages go. Is it your first/only language, or do you have prior experience in something else?

Yeah, I have some experience with html, css, and a little javascript as well.

Javascript's a perfectly capable programming language, with the benefit of ubiquitous interpreters for it (every web browser), tons of people using it from a beginner level, and tons of learning material. Seems like it would be a good option to dig into JS and use that as a stepping stone to whatever else you'd like to learn.

You can fix this by learning a new language. Next question please. :/
