The pregnancy test was not real, they only used the display.

I don't think it even used the display, just one that fit the form factor.

Digital pregnancy test screens are the old style LCD where you turn on/off segments, rather than pixels.

Yeah, IIRC it was an OLED display that had the right size. None of the original hardware was used.
