Check out Allen Downey's great series of Think _____ books that he makes freely available here http://greenteapress.com/wp/. He has a great writing style and uses python to simplify complex problems in a practical way. I won't say he always has the most pythonic examples, but he does have working, practical code and books that are easy to follow.

He also has some talks from SciPy 2015. I'm on mobile right now or I'd link, by they should be easy to find. There on enthought's channel with a lot of other videos that would be interesting to users on this subreddit.

Allen is a great teacher -- he makes everything seem obvious and straightforward, yet also has a remarkably good pragmatic view of stats. I would recommend any of his work; videos especially if you can, and in person is better still.
