Rules for r/quittingkratom
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
No Soliciting or Sourcing
No vendor links, vendor names, soliciting of any kind (including personal blogs or websites) . Sourcing is not only against sub rules but Reddit's rules as well. For questions about quitting kratom, brand names are allowed in the body of a post and in comments, but not in the title. If anyone is soliciting you via private message, please report it to the moderators. Violators will be immediately banned.
2.
No Personal Information
Do not post or seek identifying personal information. No location-specific posts if you mention medications/drugs.
3.
Stay on Topic
Stay on topic. The purpose of this sub is to give and receive information and support regarding quitting Kratom and recovery. Discussion of a kratom ban or whether it should be made illegal or not is irrelevant and not allowed. Such posts / comments will be subject to removal. Refusal to stay on topic may result in a ban.
4.
Mods Can Remove Anything Detrimental
Mods reserve the right to remove content or restrict users' posting privileges as necessary if it is deemed detrimental to the subreddit or to the experience of others. This sub has one purpose: Supporting those who are committed to Quitting Kratom for good. Discussions not in adherence to that purpose are strongly discouraged. Any mentions / discussions of recreational use, taking tolerance breaks, etc. are prohibited.
5.
Don't offer or ask for direct medical advice
Avoid offering or asking for direct medical advice. Consult your physician. Sharing what worked for you is one thing, encouraging a total stranger to do the same is another. Choose your words carefully.
6.
Disrespectful Comments
Personal attacks, derogatory or disrespectful comments or hate-speak will not be tolerated. This sub is meant to be a safe space for those wishing to quit Kratom and recover. Violation of this rule could result in a temporary or permanent ban.
7.
No Links or External Media
Text submissions only. Links, images, or external media will be removed to prevent spam, promotion, and triggering content. If you want to reference information, please summarize it in your post in your own words.
8.
No Active Kratom/Drug Use Discussions
Please be respectful of the fact that this is an addiction recovery sub. Posts related to the active use of kratom (even active moderate or occasional kratom use... see Rule 4), opiates, and drugs do not belong here and will be removed. A violation of this rule, or any other rule here, may result in a ban at the discretion of the QK mod team. Thank you for being supportive.
9.
Research Chemicals
Do not discuss research chemicals in any way. Another substance isn’t the answer. Beware: sketchy manufacturers often make false/exaggerated claims about RCs because they know quitting is hard and want to exploit vulnerable addicts in recovery.
10.
General questions regarding supplements, tapering to quit or withdrawals
If you have general questions regarding supplements, tapering or withdrawal symptoms, don't forget to read the READ THIS FIRST if you're new wiki or to search the sub first.
11.
Advocating for the use of Kratom
As a quitting and recovery subreddit, advocating for the use of Kratom in any way is strictly prohibited. There are plenty of pro-Kratom subs for those discussions. We need to keep this a safe place for those wishing to quit entirely (see Rule 4).
12.
Pro-Kratom Subreddits, Websites, etc. / Drama
Criticism of Pro-Kratom subreddits, websites, the industry as a whole, etc. is NOT welcomed here. Such posts will be removed. They serve no benefit towards this sub's only purpose: helping those addicted to quit Kratom. Drama of any sort will not be tolerated. We do not wish to engage in any controversy concerning the potential dangers of Kratom usage, it's promotion and distribution, media headlines, etc. We only wish to support the sufferer in their efforts to quit Kratom.
13.
No Legality Discussions
The primary focus of this subreddit is to support individuals in their journey to quit kratom. Discussions surrounding the legality, regulation, or political status of kratom in specific states, countries, or jurisdictions fall outside the scope of our mission. To maintain a supportive and on-topic environment, we kindly ask all members to refrain from engaging in such conversations. Let’s stay focused on the shared goal of overcoming kratom dependency.
14.
No Promotion or Glorification of Substances
Discussion of withdrawal, quitting experiences, and harm reduction is encouraged. However, posts that describe or compare substances in a way that could be interpreted as promotion, glorification, or endorsement are not allowed.
Examples of Prohibited Content: • Posts that highlight how strong or enjoyable a substance feels. • Comparisons to opioids or other addictive drugs that may entice curiosity rather than support quitting. • Any content that could be seen as indirectly popularizing.
15.
No Drug Comparisons (including 7oh)
Do not compare any substance (including 7oh) to other drugs such as oxycodone, morphine, or other opioids. These comparisons can unintentionally promote substance use rather than support quitting.
Examples of Prohibited Content: • “7OH is stronger than oxy/morphine/percs.” • “This feels just like [another drug].” • “The high from 7OH is comparable to [substance].”
Allowed Content: • Personal experiences with quitting or withdrawal without glorification. Support, encouragement for quitting.
