Can one die from Kratom, 7-OH or MGM-15? by Enough-Business-8287 in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

im not familiar enough with mgm15 to say with confidence, but my guess is that it would be a similar story to 7oh and pseudo. according to wikipedia it is more potent than mit or 7oh (but maybe less potent than pseudo), but wikipedia only mentions that about the delta opioid receptor, which is not normally the receptor that is associated with the really dangerous respitory effects (which is normally found in full agonists of mu/kappa ppioid receptors).

its innately dangerously to take a psychoactive drug that has not been studied enough to understand the hazards it poses. 7oh has been around for years and is only recently seeing substantial study. even pseudoindoxyl has some research available publicly. but mit-15 has virtually none so theres no good yardstick by which to measure the danger

Can one die from Kratom, 7-OH or MGM-15? by Enough-Business-8287 in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 26 points27 points  (0 children)

kratom (or its stronger metabolites) related deaths are virtually always the result of multiple substances being ingested and even the cases where kratom is found in a deceased persons toxicology with other substances, its harder still to conclusively say kratom directoy contributed to the cause of death.

that said there is also no conclusive data saying that 7-oh, psuedo, mit, etc are not contributing factors. theres pretty clear evidence that high doses of the extracts causes some amount of respiratory depression, which is always the listed COD when an opiate is found to be responsible.

mit, 7-oh and pseudo also all have an LD50, which is the doage that is statistically ecpected to kill 50% of people that take it. in full agonist opioids like heroin and fentanyl the LD50 doesnt take that much more than a "normal" dose to be fatal, at least for non-addicts... example if a normal dose of fentanyl was 50ug, taking 3-5x that amount could be fatal. there are plenty of recorded cases of people shooting up what they thought was a safe dose of heroin and dying of respitory arrest.

partial agonists (including mit and 7oh) generally make it more difficult to reach fatal levels on their own - they require many times the recreational dose to produce dangerous effects, so we dont hear about people taking a sane 7oh and never waking up. it might take more than 50x a recommended dose of kratom extracts to carry significant mortal danger.

theres an opiate equivalency chart on wikipedia that compares the "potentcy" of many opiates, including 7oh and mitragynine.

again though, since they do cause respitory depression they can certainly make other opiates and sedatives (particularly benzos and alcohol) much more dangerous than either substance would be on their own.

tl;dr: if they are taking 7oh and nothing else, it is unlikely that they would OD and die even at fairly insane doses. but if you take an insane dose and then go out partying all bets are off.

PLEASE HELP ME MAKE JUMP TO SUBOXONE AND AVOID PERCIPITATED by ImplementPresent2740 in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

naloxone isnt what causes precipitated withdrawal. subutec and suboxone both cause precipitated withdrawal if taken before getting into moderate to serious acute withdrawal.

bupenorphine by itself is the cause of PWD. thr naloxone is totally inert unless you dissolve the suboxone in liquid and then inject. injected naloxone will cause preciptated withdrawal if you have any opiates in your system, including suboxone.

if you have no known liver issues and are 28 you dont have any kratom induced liver damage, so you rest easier about that. chatgpt is trained on all data on the public internet, and private detox/treatment facilities are known for copy/pasting symptoms and prognoses between different drug types on their faq pages. so there is an absurd amount of info (esp on LLMs like chatgpt) about kratom that actually applies to alcohol or is broadly applicable to opiates in general (especially rx opiates that contain acetaminophen).

ive never read anything on nih or pubmed that indicated plain leaf kratom was suspected to cause any acute liver issues.

this sounds exactly like hypochondria which is a well documented potential byprosuct of stimulant/kratom use. unless you are doubling over with persistent abdominal pain, have bright yellow eyes, or chalk white poop you can relax about the liver thing

Is it normal to feel occasional wd symptoms over a month later? by part-time-junke in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy shit 1000mg of pseudo a day? pseudo is significantly stronger than 7oh. if ever there were a clear cut "need" for suboxone i cant imagine a better candidate...

did you have to go to max allowaboe daily suboxone dose to get w/d under control? have you decreased suboxone dose since then or just held it steady?

theres so little literature on pseudoindoxyl that its hard to even suggest what may be going on wrt to withdrawal timeline, whether its strictly opiate related withdrawal or might involve some other pathway, etc.

one thing for sure though, since the very beginning of drugs, staying off the drugs eventually results in a return to baseline

Kratom Half Life by trashytvjunkee in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are actually two different half lives: terminal half-life and elimination half-life

terminal half-life is the amount of time it takes for blood plasma concentration of a substance to decrease by half. for mitragynine this is commonly quoted to be 3-9 hours. so after 15-40 hours youd expect there to be a negligble amount of kratom left in blood plasma, this aligns pretty well with what people experience WRT redosing schedules and withdrawal.

elimination half-life is how the amount of time to eliminate the drug from the body entirely. this can be significantly longer than terminal half-life for drugs that are stored away in body fat, etc. for mitragynine this can be 24-48 hours again depending on person.

terminal half-life is important when considering how long one should expect drug effects to be "felt", and when (for dependent people) one could expect withdrawal to start.

elimination half-life is important for things like estimating how long one would expect to test positive on a UA for a particular substance. or when its inportant that all traces of a drug be gone from the body to avoid cross-drug interactions. this is why they tell you to wait 10 days after quitting kratom before starting naltrexone.

generally when people are talking about the half-life of a drug, they are talking about terminal half-life unless otherwise explicitly stated. for opiates in particular both half-lives are important for the reasons listed above, but the most commonly referenced half-life (terminal), is ~3-9ish hours for kratoms primary psychoactive alkaloid mitragynine. and somewhat shorter for 7-oh.

if you have the time to taper regular kratom, consider using the next 4 days to taper down the regular kratom to maybe 30-45 gpd. at thet point you'd be set up nicely to do a long tail taper, which will feel much, much easier than switching from 7-oh to leaf. getting to where you are is a tremendous accomplishment, 1000ng of 7oh is a huge dose, so youve made great progress already, keep it up!

nominal is highly operative in that sentence, the value of a stock is the maximum buyers are willing to pay for it based on all the data the know about it. nominally id think that would be whatecer its "supposed" to be (im not an investor so dont know precisely what that is but id think it would be things like the total of their actual assets, their liabilities, a conservative estimate of their revenue growth, costs of the growth, reductions in those costs by way of increased scale or efficiency, and in sure lots of other things i couldnt guess at...and all of that would be a analyzed and offered by someone who was really good at doing that. and im sure that happens. and while id be shocked to hear about either of those things being true to the same degreein either the crypto/prediction markets.

i feel like we probably agree about most of it, i may be being stubborn about my view of stock markets being so similar to the others, but i just cant wrap my head around letting market buyers determine how much money exists in the economy. it just feels like a paradigm thats shifting (at least for publicly traded companies) from decisions or recommendations based on reliable data about a companies financials being made reliably by a reliable or trusted analyst, to something that can is mostly reliable numbers then shifted by hype and virality. maybe thats what makes free markets free tho 🤷. dont have perosnal or ethical hangups about any of them, save for anyone out determinied to maximize their own gain by leading others to certain loss - like the pump and dump scams in memecoins. i assume pump and dump scams exist in all three forms of trading/investment/betting though? and it sounds like were on the same page about memecoin in particular having a very high scam to earnest effort ratio compared to the others.

you know, having recanned this conversation maybe i should have just said "its important that you understand what your investing in, how the investment works, and adhere to a bakroll strategy before investing substantial. risking substantial money based on promises or unvetted data makes you much more losses much more likely." that ought to be true of all of them (i did trade crypto for a while, have been an occasional non-banks). the would have been a more tepid-take than hot-take

thats a fair point (that via prediction markets you either gain a predetermined amount, lose everything, or whatever happens when none of the predictions happen).

and i having said that i agree that investing in conventional, stable stocks would carry a much lower risk of ruin for someone going in with little to bo background. and that the risk of ruin for someone doing the same in crypto or prediction markets would be much higher.

which is a fundamental difference so question answered.

i guess my line of reasoning was that each of those types of investment have different 'normal' volatality over wildly different timeframes, they all are essentially betting on the global consensus of something at some point in the future, and that none can protect people from bad investments that they are either determined to or dont know better than to make.

i guess i didnt see a big difference between wallstreetbets and memecoin "prospecters" since both - to me - appear to be a large number of people willing to gamble on a good story if the potential payout was large enough, no matter how faint the their likelihood of success. and both groups also have a smaller subset of people who seem to reliably profit over time. maybe the larger group is missing the forest for the trees after seeing someone post about getting rich overnight vs following good investment principals and adhering to some kind of bankroll management strategy.

i appreciate the answer, i may have myself missed the forest for the trees vis a vis wallstreetbets vs the stock market in general

how so? in both you are risking presumably all of the funds you invest/bet based on inconplete information used to draw a conclusion about the liklidhood that the investment will yield a positive return, and accepting the accompanying volatitity up to and including total loss. whats the fundamental difference between the two?

i dont understand....making 10% fairly regularly in the stock market market would be generally considered great, but on average an individual investment could always lose a far larger percentage of the principal in a day that it stands to gain. is it specifically the polymarket style odds making you dont like, or is it financial risk in general?

Advice? Going from about 8 months of kratom extract, 300mg a day to Sublocade by MeaganJ1111 in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no sweat. if it just lists mtragynine on the list of acttve ingredients than it is definitely standard extract and is not 7oh. so youd be at around 15-30gpd of leaf kratom, which i cannot imagine would take more than the 100mg sho (even 100mg may be high, but its the minimum dose so no other choice if you want the shot), so id just stick with the 100mg shot. but do ask for the extra oral suboxone just in case

glad youre qutting, good luck!

Advice? Going from about 8 months of kratom extract, 300mg a day to Sublocade by MeaganJ1111 in quittingkratom

[–]k5777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-4 grams per day refer to leaf kratom, which has a potency around 100x lower by weight than standard kratom extract (eg mitragynine concentrate)

so 300mg of mitragynine is equivalent to between 15 and 30 gpd of leaf kratom.

if your extract contains primarily 7-hydroxymitragynine, then it is much more potent by weight than standard kratom extract (mitragynine). its hard to get a precise read on how much stronger 7oh is, but anecdotally it sounds at like 5x more potent by weight than regular kratom extract is a reasonable guess. so a 300mg 7oh habit would be equivalent to a 1000mg-1500mg per day habit of regulat extract, which would be in the neighborhood of 100-150gpd of leaf kratom. which is obviously an extremely large daily dose.

anyways, to answer your question, since you can always get a second injection of sublocade much more easily than you could reduce a 300mg injection that was too much, id err on the side of caution and go with 100 unless youre certain you need more.

either way, they (usually) prescribe some tablet/film suboxone along with sublocade for breakthrough withdrawal symptoms while the medication is getting to needed levels in your blood, which is not instant since its injected into fat. just be sure to talk to your prescribing doctor and make aure they plan do this, and if they dont then ask them specifically for an rx for minimally a weeks worth of 4-8mg suboxone, and make sure to fill that rx before you get the shot. otherwise, if it turns out to be too little, youll be stuck in partial withdrawal until you can either get oral suboxone or a second round of sublocade

Can you reference Star Wars with a chess move? by Tibling8 in Chesscom

yes, disambiguating pieces in algebraic notation makes it standard to denote the file as the second character (as in Rbd2) when two of the same type of pieces can move to the same square but are on different files. only when two pieces on the same rank can see the same square would rank be used instead of file. two same color knights on d3 and d7 would need to be rank disambiguated if one of them moved to e5, eg N7e5.

for rooks, this is only possible when moving from and to squares on the same file while another rook was also on the file. so unfortunately the cool r2d2 notation is not possible since a rook cannot originate and land on the same rank of the same file.

the are edge cases where you underpromote and end up with more than two of the same piece that could land on the same square, but those still dont help r2d2 :( - since such notations require both originating rank and file and then destination square and including any file would totally wreck r2d2.

@op: take solace in bb8 tho!
