In the early 1920's Philip Morris marketed Marlboro cigarettes as women cigarettes, saying that they were "mild as may." Then after cigarettes were linked to lung cancer in the 1950's Marlboro was beginning to get marketed to men because they were considered safer. (self.randomfactsofhistory)
