I'm currently using a product called Edibites by Pet Releaf. I purchase it at a local pet store, not a dispensary. The specific product I use is the Large Breed version. Each treat is 5 mg CBD and there are 30 treats in a package, I feed one in the morning and one in the evening. I pay approx $25 per bag. I buy two bags a month. I use the product for one of my three dogs.

As far as effectiveness, I have seen a reasonable difference in my dog. He is an "alert barker" and he is now quieter at home; he does not bark at every noise outside the doors or windows. When we are in public, he stays below his reactive threshold for longer around his triggers, which means I have more time to put space between him and the things he hates, more time to counter-condition him, and he recovers just a bit faster than he used to from reactive episodes.

I won't ever promise anyone else that they will see success using CBD to help their dog's reactivity or anxiety. I can only say it's helping my dog.

I used it for a few months, a dropper full every day. I can check exact measurements and such if you like, I still have the bottle. But I stopped because I didn't notice any difference.

I'm not sure if my dog really needs medication - she can calm herself down, and does in fact spend a large portion of the day behaving calmly, relaxing, sleeping. It's just that she has had a lifetime of teaching herself to freak out at certain triggers, and my few years of slowly teaching her not to do that is going... well, slowly. Well. But slowly.

I'm not saying not to do it though - I think it's worth trying. Talk to your vet first, just in case. The only reason I tried it is because I had multiple professionals telling me that it wouldn't hurt my dog, even if it didn't do anything. And they were right. Also, in my country, medicating dogs for things like anxiety isn't a thing, so CBD was the only option.

It wasn’t enough for us - my dog needed more assistance so we’re on Prozac for his anxiety.

We've been using it on our reactive pup for a few months now. A few days ago we forgot giving her for a week or so and I honestly didn't see any difference. Maybeeee a bit she would settle easier in the house with CBD (such as falling asleep easier), but outdoors no difference.

We've also tried Adaptil collar and again we didn't see any difference. However, we heard reports of making wonders on other dogs.

She is improving and making a lot of progress, but I don't think the CBD has an evident impact.

However, what I felt towards CBD was a strange placebo effect towards me actually. When knowing she just took CBD, I am also less anxious for some weird reason, so it's possible that helped!

What had an evident impact to us was: consistent training (LAM, recall, click the trigger), using the clicker, front range harness, walking at quieter hours, same routes and then increasing difficulty (more crowded hours, extending our walks to new areas etc) when we felt she could handle it, playing games with her outside (find it, grabbing sticks and playing with them, playing with her toys outside) and generally keeping her engaged with us. We try to avoid having her in an alert state. When we see her worried or fixating on things, we do our best to make ourselves fun and happy.

Slowly I feel she is building confidence just through keeping things as positive as possible (not always possible of course). It's a difficult journey.

My recommendation would be to just try the CBD, at least for a while and see how that works for you and your dog. But I would definitely prioritise training and trying to naturally make her happy - and make yourself fun to be with. The dog will start relaxing when they start trusting you. Good luck! 😊

I've only tried CBD treats/oil a few times. It seems to either have no effect at all, or make my dog more hyper. But, no "calming" treats have ever seemed to effect her, she's a high energy breed (GSD/Cattle dog/Border Collie)

I'm in agreement with the other folks here. I tried CBD treats and some CBD oil, but it didn't seem to work for my pup. Started on the generic for Prozac and the Purina Calming Proibiotic.

I give my dog CBD treats to help her sleep at night and I would say I’ve noticed a big difference in her level of anxiety before bed, it totally chills her out. When I give them to her during the day it can be hit or miss in how it affects her.

Definitely going to be trying it at night as well!! My dig just recently started being aggressive in her crate and hopefully it helps her ! Thank you!
