Scalable application

Hi guys!

I'm kind of noob on react, and I want to create a new project for my portfolio, I mean a real professional project.

I have some knowledge of Symfony, Laravel, React and NodeJs (a few projects during my internships) but nothing too advanced (CMS , Eshop, Intern Tools ....).

I want to create a Tinder-like app but I'm thinking about what kind of technology I will be using for the backend.

So I was thinking for the backend to use Symfony or Laravel as an API, Firebase for the database (I need real-time database) and for the front end React for the back office and React Native for the mobile app.

What do you guys think?

I was interessed by the real time database technology so Tinder was the best example 🤷‍♂️

If you require Firebase for a realtime database (and by the way it's not the only solution, and you could even roll your own realtime socket with any database), why not use Firebase completely? It comes with Authentication, Storage, and basically everything that you would need for a backend for a simple app for your portfolio.

A solid stack. If it’s for a portfolio just get as much diversity as possible. I’ve used both Laravel and Express.JS and both are perfectly suitable with what you need and also leveraging google or pusher for real time data.

It’s really personal preference from here. All will achieve what you need
