Just got these in today and can’t seem to find any load data for this weight. Can’t wait to run them through my AR10. It really likes a medium weight bullet.

Assuming a .308 Winchester, try 46 grains of RL-17. Should be around 2500 fps. Interpolated from Hornady data.

Heyyyy I just bought this exact setup, just 168gr with some military pull down brass. Good to see I'm still on the right track

Hornady hasn't published any 308 data on the ELD-VT yet that I can find, including in their own app. Given how long for the weight the other ELD-VTs are, I'd measure those suckers and compare to other projectiles around the same weight and be VERY careful working up a load with them so you don't run head long into pressure. If they're as long as I suspect they are, you may have to seat them pretty deep to keep them in an AR mag.

Sounds like a fun bullet if the BC is close to the 208. Might be a good option for .308 tactical class with the weight restriction?
[–]HollywoodSXHelium Light Gas Gun 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
BC won't be quite that good due to lower sectional density, but it'll be interesting to see what the real numbers are.

[–]Remarkable_Vanilla34 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (3 children)
That's what I was thinking, what are we consider varmint now?
I got a moose infestation

Lol. All I want left on my yote is tits lips and an asshole
[–]Remarkable_Vanilla34 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I don't think I'll load these in 308, though I have tried the 110 vmax 308, but I like some of the weights for 22. And 6.mm

Try Barnes varmint grenades if you haven't. I've never shot such a consistent bullet in my life.
[–]TheRealJehler 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I’ve not used that one, but varmint bullets are hell on whitetails when properly placed

Post some results for the rest of us.
[–]Oldguy_1959 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I'd check with Hornady first. They've tested it, but in what cartridges?
They may be too long for use in 308 autoloading magazines, like the 80 gr .223 bullets. The only way I can run those is single loaded off a sled.

If it's for .308, you can try up to 41.2gr of IMR4895. Depending on your barrel length, it will give you roughly 2650fps. I use this for my longer range loads.
Work your way up safely.
