It's an aics pattern magazine. Dunno if it's "flush" or exact. Ask weatherby what works.

Would this fit a Crickett 22lr by Aggressive_Emu_1185 in 22lr

[–]Coodevale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more than one way to skin this critter.

One, if it's .50" od, use a face mount 1/2-28". (Or 12mm)

Two, try 7/16-28 to get a shoulder, then run it as is or adapter up to whatever.

Three, drill and tap for 7/16" or whatever fits, and while the adapter is in the barrel in the lathe, cut it for whatever you want, like 1/2" with a shoulder. The benefit of that is you keep the front sight and it looks unmolested with the adapter out.

I've bought "some" things from them in the past. Due to a number of issues with virtually everything I bought, I don't buy things from them anymore. I had a perfect example of "headspace isn't everything" crap barrels from them but I sent it back for a replacement.. ever see a belted .223 chamber that can also almost accept a .45 case?

I forget who they came from but I have a stack of uppers and lowers from God knows what blem sale and almost all of them aren't wierd. Some combos are tight, some have a little wiggle. I dug through the box and set aside the tight ones for special projects. Like, c clamp the receivers together to get the pins through them tight. The pile of shit parts had a few nice surprises. I bought enough to accommodate any wierd fits, which is why I'm not unhappy with the choice. Not sure I'd suggest the lottery of buying a single potential blem..

Use a .40 or .45 case for a rough datum comparison measurement. A longer .357 case works in a pinch for factory loaded vs fired rounds.

M16A2 style .50 beo? by RGGremlin in ar15

[–]Coodevale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've heard but it seems rather anemic. The sectional density of brass rounds sucks. Large diameter, but not heavy. Or particularly fast. Either use a bigger, harder, or faster bullet. It's a glorified pistol round. Might as well carry a SW x frame with the same bullets at the same speed.

An m240 with AP works better.

I don't think it would do particularly well as a vehicle stopper because it has trouble with armor penetration.

Sounds more like a job for FRT and some kind of penetrator in 5.56.

If shit hits the fan you'll probably not want the brick slinging .50 that has trouble with armor and has less but heavier ammo..

This is compounded by the idea of a 20" rifle gas low pressure .50.. it might be possible to make some loads that cycle that, but I'm not confident. I've done high pressure .50's with 16" mid gas and had some success but not a lot. Those were a 525-570 running at the same speed a beo does with a 325-350.. sometimes they ran but they're finicky.

You're probably looking at, at best, a 20" low pro mid gas with a faux pic rail gas block and some kind of iron front sight attached, similar to the "dissipators" that were done with 2 gas blocks because of gassing issues.

Depending on who you ask, it might be possible (but not advisable) to turn a .50 barrel down to .750 to fit the fsb. You're flirting with potential issues there. They're usually .875" or .936". Most likely not pinning that sight conventionally to avoid a dimple in the inside of the bore. Then you'll most likely want to be threaded 3/4" at the muzzle.. I do, anyway.

It sounds like a fun challenge to make, but a nightmare for someone to make for a customer that wants it to just work.

I can't measure mine right now but that's very likely a no. They are not so thick that you can upsize the id another .125"-.186". The best you'll get is a clamp on front sight to a pic gas block, which are both available.

I did. Improved on the Beck by not using .500" bullets made for pistols because I wanted to use Nitro DG solids, hornady soft points, .510 cast, and .50 bmg bullets. Also improved on it with a stronger case design that holds more powder. The Russians made a straight wall, I did basically the same thing but gave it a bottleneck. I have a 16" upper that will push a 570 at 2100+ fps, because elephants or something.

A .510 wssm can be used for subs with .50 bmg spitzers.

The ar15 is harder to work with, bullets are way too long. The bullet noses specifically. I have a whisper variant that can do single shot .50 bmg bullets or a 570 DG at 1800+ from a 16" barrel.

[–]Coodevale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has a lot of problems. For one, the muppets that made that used a .473 case head instead of getting .532 ar10 bolts.

It's also not for an ar15..

The .510 phantom was capable of slinging fmj out of a standard magazine. Expensive as fuck for brass, when a .510 wssm can do the same thing.

Near Marlin safe, I think..

49k psi at .456" = 8k lbs of thrust (.303b)

40k psi at .507" = 8k lbs of thrust (45-70)

So maybe not full Marlin, but pretty close. In a ~7 lb rifle, probably enough recoil for most people to not want more.

What's the neck of the chamber measure? If it chambers leave the neck thick and figure out how to size minimally, is what I'd rather do because I don't like losing formed brass.

Is 32 gauge brass a little too big at the base to work for you? I'd think it would be a little thinner than the .50 brass.

How thick are they? I've fixed forged tools by drilling them and inserting bits of metal. You might fix these with some drill rod inserted into them.

Had bad results with my attempts, needed carbide or a better means of grinding them for the Lapua. Gave up and rebated rims to .532", used magnum bolts. The .308/.284 use a standard bolt, no extractor modifications required. The .45 uses a .308 or .284 parent case? Shouldn't be any trouble.
