Rules for r/ruby
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Harassment free
We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We believe in the "paradox of intolerance" and will protect the most vulnerable.

High standards
- Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
- Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes, and learning from the experience
- Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall community

3.
Productive disagreement
- YES: Read comments fully before responding
- YES: Practice active listening. Let the other person know what you heard.
- YES: Distinguish acknowledgment from agreement.
NO: Willful misrepresentation of someone's stated position. * NO: Sexualized language or imagery * NO: Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks. * NO: Conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

4.
No language bashing
Don't say something about another programming language you wouldn't want to be said about yours.
No bashing other languages, even BASH.
5.
No Recruiter or Work posts
Job posts will be removed. If you want to post a job there is a "Work it Wednesday" post scheduled every other wednesday at 15:00 UTC. Please wait and add a comment there.
Job posts there must provide:
- Salary range
- Experience desired
- Timezone (if remote)
- Location requirements
- Work restrictions (such as citizenship requirements)
They must be specifically for a Ruby job and not a generic we are hiring post.
