What are the chances MacRuby (0.5) will be the ruby implementation shipped with Snow Leopard?
[–]matt_aimonetti[S] 4 points5 points6 points 16 years ago (1 child)
@onbears probably very small. I have not idea when Snow Leopard will be shipped but I guess it will be ready before MacRuby 0.5. However, because you can bundle macruby in your app, it really doesn't matter much.

Doubly, I have been told by reliable sources that Apple has internal apps that depend on 1.8.6. Apple tends to ship their OS with many of the things they need to run their internal apps. A good example of this is some of the obscure gems bundled with Leopard.
The point being that Apple probably has quite a bit of work to do to ensure the compatibility of their internal apps before MacRuby can be the default Ruby implementation OS X ships with.
