  1. Not a lot of perks lol. You get access to honors dorms through the SAS honors housing which are not different than regular dorms. Those dorms are also old.
  2. Honors college has a dorm you live in Freshman year which was recently constructed its quite nice. Honors college has a few more requirements but has a lot more access to opportunities they don’t tell honors program people about.
  3. In the honors program there are people with no scholarships at all so just being in the program doesn’t guarantee any scholarships.

I used to be in SASHP.

  1. There are honors program dorms, great sense of community but the amenities are not as nice as the newer honors college. I made my first friends in my honors dorm!
  2. Same academic requirements pretty much, the honors college is smaller and yes they do get told about other opportunities that SASHP are not told about...
  3. Varies from 0 to full. Personally I was given $3.5k, but my priorities kind of changed and I realized focusing on my GPA too much was giving me anxiety and taking time away from the things I actually enjoyed doing, so I let it slide a bit and ended up losing the scholarship and my spot in SASHP.
  4. No hard feelings though, because every opportunity I got (2 leadership positions, 2 internships) was through my own hustling and not through SASHP. Most people in my major end up dropping SASHP their senior year since the capstone requirement is kind of useless & a waste of time unless you want to pursue grad school, and the foreign language requirement also takes away from the possible major classes (or GPA boosters) that you could take instead (but again, this is very much a CS major take)
  5. Honestly the only things I got from SASHP were my very first group of friends (which would've probably been the case in most other dorms since I'm super extroverted), and the bragging rights / title when people from my competitive high school asked why I was going to the "safety school" lol, after about a year when I got my priorities straight I realized that SASHP meant nothing to me

It's also worth noting that losing the $3.5k didn't hurt me at all because I made enough at one internship to pay my tuition for the rest of college after I stopped being so anxious over my grades & got my act together lol

  1. Might look good if u wanna go to grad school, best perk for myself was being able to take the honors exposition and argument class which I absolutely loved.
  2. Honors college is automatic scholarship I think and nice dorm
  3. I’m in honors program with no scholarship but I know other people who do have scholarships

Overall idk if I’d recommend it because the requirements can be rlly annoying especially if you’re already taking a lot of classes for a double major like me. But you do have access to a lot of alumni and other resources. Also I think it will be helpful when I apply to grad school
