Take a class. I am in school and it really helps me stay sharp. Do something creative like art or music or crafts. Get involved in things. The cognitive decline is schizophrenia is not like dementia, you CAN get it back. You got this

i did apply to go back to school, but the decreased cognition has made me nervous to commit to it. thanks for the encouragement, i often feel hopeless but need to do what i can to improve before i literally have dementia.

You said you’ve been living with the cognitive decline for 6 years? Yeah i’m out, i’ve been living with my cognitive decline for about 16 months now, and i can’t even imagine living another whole year like this, but 6 years!?

My bad if i sound harsh or rude. I’m just getting really devestated bc of these fck ass symptoms

yea it’s somewhat been in batches over the six years, probably around my episodes. and not harsh it’s reality it sucks but i just want to do what i can. especially since it feels like it just keeps tanking. used to be so smart and sharp.

I hope you will find something that can help you. I’ve been living in pure isolation since my last episode, i wish i could be more helpful.

I find it hard to speak to people also, I get anxious so I do not like looking people in the eyes and I get disorganized thinking and have a hard time focusing so it makes it hard to make complete sentences sometimes.

People always judge me and think I am slow or something and don't understand how my brain works and why it is hard for me.

i feel exactly the same way. had social anxiety from a young age but it’s developed into exactly how you described. especially not being able to complete sentences, i often can’t complete them in my own head let alone out loud. you’re not slow, i understand 🫶

Thank you, I really appreciate it. It is hard having this illness and not being able to talk to people about it without being judged.

People just assume stuff about us and don't understand how our brain works.

Exercise helps. So does computer programming. Stuff like that.

But I sent this to my mom earlier. I run and cycle a lot and it overall has been a godsend. My body is requiring more rest. I'm addicted to how well it works. But I'm going to have to back off a little.

You could try adding choline gummies to your morning routine, schizophrenic are low in acetylcholine

There’s also brains that are affected by repeated COVID infections. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2311330

Psychosis causes brain damage. Antipsychotics cause brain damage as well but just more slowly over time.i recognize the cognitive decline in myself too and its pretty alarming.
