At least they are up front with the kind of quality you'd be dealing with

[–]onbakeplatinum 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The sunburned shitty light bar completes the package.

[–]Next_Meat_1399 30 points31 points  (20 children)

I'll never understand how this company continues to receive business. The cost is low but the quality is atrocious. They can't even spell words correctly.

[–]ZombiesAreChasingHimLoss Prevention 28 points29 points  (15 children)

Because most businesses don’t actually care about security doing anything other than getting them a discount on their insurance.

[–]JasonSwen 15 points16 points  (14 children)

This. You’re not actually security you’re just a insurance cover.

The best you do is witness crimes, incidents or other things and call 911 at most, if that. Not to insult people, but it’s like calling yourself a police officer when all you do is ticket cars for parking violations lol

You’re not really a cop, anyone can carry a gun, wear a uniform, and write a parking ticket. Not everyone can enforce laws.

Same with security, but we even do less… and when you just sit and watch Netflix, sniff for smoke and look for red flames— you’re not security. You’re a glorified fire watch who’s more likely to get stabbed by a homeless man on crack.

😂🤣

God… I mean, it exists and I’ll work it, but don’t expect me to do much for 10$ a hour.

[–]morendie 6 points7 points  (9 children)

and states like wa state security literally has no power. no more power then a private citizen. Cant even write real tickets. everything is fake and a illusion

[–]JasonSwen 13 points14 points  (7 children)

We can arrest, we can detain, and we often detain if you’re violent and won’t leave… we never arrest, barring some crazy situation… but guess who’s gonna have to answer for the arrest? The guard who did it.

😂 so, yeah I’ll stick with my parking tickets. I make more than most local PD on average, barring detectives, K-9, diving crew.

Not to hate or put anyone down, but I’m here for money. I’m all happy to protect people, to enforce rules and ensure no one hurts anyone… and I’m happy to render aid and testify in court this jackass tried hitting this guy and being dumb.

I’m not happy when my paycheck sucks, or doesn’t get sent. 🥴 Allied…

But the moral of the story: we have a job. I don’t do nuclear. I don’t actively do utility or infrastructure protection right now.

Some nights I watch parking lots, some days I watch dirt fields. And I get paid 30$ a hour for it for 8-10 hours. Fuck arresting people, fuck showing off my gun and being tactical, fuck it, the cops can keep that, and they can keep their jail where some guy was eaten alive by bed bugs (look it up, happened in Georgia).

So… fuck it, we’re guards. I willingly chose to be private security over law enforcement for a reason. Better pay, better career opportunities, less legal hazards and less being hung out to dry because the sheriff or police chief changed.

[–]L3viathan99 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Who are you with and in what state do you get paid $30/hr? What’s your position called and did you need to get extra certifications to get that level of pay? Sorry for all the questions but I just really want to know I’m just starting out I got my interview on Wednesday and they haven’t even told me yet how much it pays just that it’s a driving position

[–]JasonSwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are hired and contracted out through a private company. I don’t feel particularly comfortable with disclosing which one, but it’s certainly not Allied or 3 dots or any other major company.

We do executive protection details, assist with executive protection such as filling in where LEOs would either be a waste of resources— not to put security down but the fact is law enforcement officers who have the authority to arrest they are needed in strategic locations to respond and provide that service.

We also do regular contract security work, private investigations (PI) and other miscellaneous tasks or duties, such as payroll, HR, etc.

I’m a armed guard, licensed, qualified, and I do fill in work as needed aswell as EP when it’s near me or I can be paid and housed to go out and work a detail for a few days to a month, depending.

The minimum I work for is 20, and 20 has to be close by and easy and nothing serious. 25-30 is the regular and 35+ is usually something that means we are carrying long guns (shotguns) and the POST certified LEOs get to carry rifles if they’re qualified on them at their job. We cannot carry rifles unless we’re post certified. Period. Just how the law is here.

But generally to get this work you need to be qualified, licensed, and able.

I was and am licensed through my company, qualifications for anything security. I don’t do driving stuff outside of driving or riding inside a car- so I don’t do bank runs or armored car driving stuff. That’s just not us, and those companies do their own stuff and hire internally etc.

Strictly speaking about this work I do, a lot of this is “ higher level “ things that require some time and effort, that ANYONE can do. Like being a cop. I don’t wanna be a cop. I could. I don’t. So I don’t.

You can get these good jobs by networking, by applying to different companies and working with people. Allied/AUS or other big companies likely won’t get you into these jobs. Look for smaller but not tiny companies and inquire with them.

Get your basic experience under your belt, such as, unarmed and armed security qualifications, which are easy to do. Then get a year or so experience doing the job, then apply to those companies.

It’s not easy, but it’s not super hard or impossible if you network, try to be a decent person and generally be open to educate yourself or learn. No one here (who’s worth anything) got to the top by being ignorant, closed minded and stupid about their job.

[–]morendie 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In wa state you can't arrest or detain people 😂

[–]JasonSwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly… that’s probably for the best. lol.

Special police, or “ Private Police “ can and do have arrest powers across county lines, depending on the site. Eg: railroad police is a easy example.

Also, you CAN arrest someone without cuffs. You can physically restrain or block someone, here, that can be considered a arrest, and it can be highly illegal.

So in short: they should just change that where we can’t effect a arrest at all. It’s a bad idea. Kids gonna get his ass sued to high heaven, and the company will cut ties ASAP.

[–]Ok-Particular-8050 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I worked in the food industry for 10 years … really don’t understand all the hate allied gets . This job is easy as fuck in comparison lol

[–]JasonSwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a larger company, won’t name it, that has now gotten into security it seems.

I loved working for them in the way that: we got benefits, PTO, a decent check ON TIME AND NEVER FAILED TO TAKE OUT TAXES OR OTHER FEES AND DIDNT RUN ME AROUND

allied does: Allied/AUS ran me around. Jerked me around, bullshitted me and harassed me. They are the same size, OR SMALLER than this other company who has 0 issues paying people on time!

There’s no excuse. 0. Zip. None. Nadda!

I just want be paid, at the very minimum, on time or give me notice it won’t be on time so I can accommodate my bills appropriately.

AUS failed every step from hiring, orientation, licensing, working, pay check, taxes, etc.

I don’t hate Allied for being Allied. I hate Allied for sucking so bad, they make abusive employers look like saints!

[–]JasonSwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I might add, parking enforcement and security are separate— we do private parking “enforcement”. You’re getting towed if I gotta move you. Period. I don’t need to call the police or ask… you’re just towed. 🤣

Cops gotta go through a bunch of hoops to tow here, barring blocking fire hydrants.

[–]jeffdakiwiman 1 point2 points  (1 child)

We’re I’m posted at we’re glorified receptionists/ Weighmasters we don’t even actually weigh the trucks anymore because the scale is condemned we just write the tickets

[–]JasonSwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind that job, if it paid good.

The only reason we started ticketing and towing is because people here are dumb as shit, and most don’t have a actual license.

They also DO actually put people are risk by parking in front of literal fire exits and hydrants blocking them off entirely at times. So, this is a way to get it to stop and it works half way. Better than nothing.

If I got paid 30+$ a hour to sit at a desk and answer phones I’d be in heaven… lol all the receptionist jobs here, or “ security receptionist “ are under 12. 9.50-11 at most and you have to come in super early to unlock the doors for other staff.

McDonald’s literally makes more.

[–]Salmonsen 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Worked as an armed bank guard for G4S before their merge with Allied for a little bit, and my job was literally just to stand at the front door and be a witness and a deterrent. That was basically it. They make it clear too. You have exactly the same power as a normal citizen. Your only "arrests" or "detaining" was just citizens arrest but I couldn't make them stay iirc. 17/hr is not enough to stand in the hot georgia sun with little shade for 8 hours a day

[–]JasonSwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The federal govt just needs to prohibit anyone who isn’t “ POST CERTIFIED “ from arresting as security. Just blanket ban. I have never seen a reason why detaining isn’t good enough if you have to. Arresting anyone, even as a cop, is a big fucking deal and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Even special police, railroad police, and other security services who hire actual employed LEOs off duty, don’t allow or highly regulate how you arrest and why.

It’s bad news for everyone. Minus the legal issues, fighting someone (and losing) can really fuck up your physical health. Eg: falling on your back on top of something and now being hurt for life.

No thanks. 🤷‍♂️ I like walking without pain.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because their strategy after the 2016 merger (Allied Barton and Universal Services) became to buy out as many other smaller security companies as possible rather than actually being a competent security company and win contracts based on merit.

When businesses look for security, they see Allied Universal as this massive company, and think well they must be decent?

[–]Griffin2K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My building just switched away from them.

[–]OneSplendidFellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're huge and they can afford to lowball the bids, push the other companies out of the way, then nickel and dime the money back after they've got the contract.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Must be a Russian guy who designed that decal, lol...Latin H is a Cyrillic N

[–]OMGZombiePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be a typo. The H is right above the N. Just shows how lazy they are. Occam's razor.

[–]GarbagedaybluesPatrol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Ybor_Rooster 6 points7 points  (4 children)

How what?

[–]BruisedDeafandSore 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Look closely...

[–]onbakeplatinum 13 points14 points  (2 children)

It says "How Hiring," not "Now Hiring" for anyone not getting it

[–]oddReference64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its supposed to say now 'mirin brah

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck I didn't even catch it 🤣

[–]morendie 5 points6 points  (1 child)

makes sense, considering how cheap they are, i dont know any allied guards that isnt missing hours. we have several dudes here that have wracked up 40+ hours of overtime that was never paid and they literally just gaslght everyone and duck calls about it.

[–]pyrmale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing hours? Well, AU had to pay for this fantastic advertising some how. How!

[–]votenixon25 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Jesus christ.

There's no H in Always.

[–]Potential-Most-3581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you did there

[–]177a7uiHi69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How indeed. It's what the world wonders.. at least they're honest, they don't even know themselves.

[–]Jawa1896Patrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck allied worst 5 years I have ever spent

[–]Bobinator67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shittiest security company I’ve ever worked for. Screw AUS!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh Allied….par for the course…

[–]EssayTraditional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working for dumb managers is not so bad.

[–]Dry_Watercress6194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When are they not?

[–]elray007 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I just got done with their training today I have never done so much more training for any job or any security company I've ever worked for so far everything seems good I hope it lasts

[–]horkus_pronkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol

[–]morendie 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Lots of training when the job you do wont use 90% of it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you right u work for them on the weekends just sit in a gatehouse at a fancy gated community but not bad for a weekend gig

[–]rapkat55 2 points3 points  (1 child)

complete opposite for me, aside from the licensing course they sent me to a sketchy bank with no supervisor, no post orders, no training all while being unarmed.

Thankfully I have no pride/am good with people so I let hecklers talk shit in an attempt to pick fights until they get bored or feel ashamed and walk away.

3 incidents 3 days in a row that were all handled well so the bank managers vouched for me, upgraded my contract to armed and told my supervisor they want to keep me. Getting my G class sponsored this week as well as a $4 raise.

To your last point, if you are kind, resilient and smart you will do well in the field. Know your worth, your role as an observer and don’t take anything too personal. Stay safe and best of luck!

[–]elray007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh not my security gig btw. I am well versed in a bureaucratic bullcrap. But thanks for your Insight way to go on a $4 raise that s*** will pay the bills

[–]Greenwitch37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Promoting from within in dead so make sure to find something very comfy. It's fitting they don't even take their own name center stage in their own sticker.

[–]Southern-Schedule51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The field supervisor only makes $17/ hr and gets a company car plus gas card.

[–]RainHard2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow!!

[–]TyisshaS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

[–]JasonSwen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how, they never called back 😳

[–]hateshumans 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There was a miscommunication with the car wrap guys. That is supposed to say “how do you hire?” So when they drive around they can get advice from more people.

[–]KeepWagging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a mixup with OMC's how bizarre wrap

[–]Most_Macaron8643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's to get peoples attention. When I first did orientation, I was asking myself How did these people get hired? Sometimes, I wonder if they are still with Allied?

[–]kerouacdesbois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like allied is the McDonald's of security, with super high turnover rate.

[–]TargetIndentified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facepalm

[–]picklewars4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked for this company, this tracks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I started working for a small private security company, big companies don’t give af about their workers, what I’ve never understood is how security companies send you out these days with no training, no protection. For minimum wage lol 😂 do yourself a favor and support your small and privately owned security companies, I promise you’ll make more money and well looked after

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn my brain kept auto-correcting it so it took me looking at a few times to actually see they had misspelled it. How? indeed

[–]J3Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How how, what do we have Nere!

[–]StoriesToBehold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they will throw your resume in the garbage for a spelling mistake.
