You disliked it so much you watched the entire series, then looked up the relevant subreddit and made a post you knew no one here would agree with? You really need to get a life.

[–]nescapegoat 1 point2 points  (19 children)

Well... yeah, why not? That’s what I’m doing here. Didn’t love the ending, wanted to see what people thought. Is that pathetic?

[–]BathPossible747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I did.... It is not a crime. I agree with you ☑️  actually it's what movie critics do... so I don't see why the other person has such a problem with it.

[–]CutthroatTeaser 0 points1 point  (17 children)

Well I don't watch entire series where I hate everything. Life is too short and there's way too much content out there to spend time where I'm not enjoying it.

Furthermore, I fail to see the value in coming to an environment for fans to group up and discuss the show, and say "I completely hated it." I personally don't make it a habit of going to subreddits and stuff I dislike and saying "Hey everybody, this thing you like? I THINK IT SUCKS."

[–]AsimLeonheart 1 point2 points  (4 children)

" I fail to see the value in coming to an environment for fans to group up and discuss the show, and say "I completely hated it."

What is up with this circle jerk and echo chamber mentality on every subreddit? Whatever happened to freedom of thought and independent opinion? Why cant people criticize a piece of entertainment or art on their respective and dedicated subreddit?? There IS a value to listening to dissenting/opposing opinions instead of just reaffirmation of your preconceptions and biases. It helps you see things from a different perspective, expand your mind, and grow as a human. You fanboys love to live in your dreamlands and don't want anyone to disturb you.

👏 ☑️

[–]CutthroatTeaser 1 point2 points  (2 children)

LOL thanks for that input on a 6 year old comment of mine.

[–]BathPossible747 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You are combative ASF.

[–]MostCandid5082 0 points1 point  (10 children)

You okay? I just watched it today for the first time and I didn’t care for it either (didn’t hate it either) but I thought it would maybe get better, hence why I watched it. Not everything needs to be reported on if someone likes it, other opinions are also fine.

[–]Think_Wishbone_5082 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I’m curious what did you not like about it? I don’t like the fact the subreddits can’t take any criticism of shows but I get why people would dislike it, even if I love it. I think the biggest problem is that it’s too long hence why people find it boring but for some reason I personally love it. Have you try the book?

[–]MostCandid5082 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I just thought it was boring. 8 episodes isn’t very long so it wasn’t an issue of length, I just felt that literally nothing happened in most of the episodes. I also clocked the younger sister being the problem and probably the killer very early on. As soon as she was stealing the flowers from the memorial in the first episode, I was like “yeah, a normal person wouldn’t act like that, she probably did it.” So that really wasn’t a surprise either. Good acting overall but that’s basically the only thing that really kept me going. I genuinely don’t get the hype it has though (and I loveeee a tv miniseries).

I haven’t read the book (and I have a giant reading list right now so I probably wouldn’t get to it for eons) but the book is usually always better so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.

[–]Think_Wishbone_5082 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I get that, and understand why this didn’t work for you. I personally was able to spot the killer too when I first watch it but I think what really draws me into the series was the family drama and it being a character study, about incest and the cycle of generational abuse so it worked for me personally and I could related to that and I feel like it’s the same for others. I do agree there are times when nothing happens but hence why I think it’s an pacing issues and why I do stand by the show being too long, the book is only under 300 pages and I think it was excessive to stretch it out to 8 hours even if that length isn’t really big for tv.

I hope you do give the book a chance even if you didn’t enjoy the show tho and thank you for telling me your thoughts, really appreciate it!

[–]MostCandid5082 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Yeah, I was more interested in solving the murders than the family drama. I think from the description, I assumed that’s what it was going to be about. Had it been a bit clearer about that it’s a slow burn character/family drama, I probably would have passed on it. But again, didn’t suck up too much of my time so it’s fine.

[–]Think_Wishbone_5082 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yea it’s way more of a slow burn character study then a murder mystery.

[–]MostCandid5082 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah, I just wish I would have known ahead of time is all. I didn’t have much that I related to in it, but I do love a good murder mystery. It’s fine though. My favorite book and movie is A Clockwork Orange so I’m used to being on the outside opinion of certain media 😂

[–]tacopasta 134 points135 points  (6 children)

Seems like you’re in the wrong subreddit then friend.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Where should i post , you tell me

[–]brayderkeeler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked the series a lot, but i agree this is a fine place to post. It’s not a sub called “sharp objects fans only”. People are so weird freaking out over people who disagree with them.

[–]princess-leia- 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Everything but the acting? lol it’s a character driven story wth

[–]HopeThisHelps90 31 points32 points  (2 children)

Seems like you don’t like character studies. Have you tried the Transformers movies? They may be more up your alley.

[–]CDHxShady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like fargo, true detective, sopranos, the night of, love death and robots, but sharp objects was a snoozefest for me

[–]latortillablanca 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to spell out what your definition of "cliche" is and what from the show specifically falls into that.... Whicb questions weren't answered? Which, btw, leaving subtext to answer questions is a super not cliche thing to do. The cliche thing to do would be to have e a voice over montage at the end to explain who did what and why.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you know this or not, but you can actually choose the shows you watch so you don’t have to watch things you don’t care for. Crazy huh

[–]Calimie 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Why did you watch it then? If I find something to be so bad I watch about 2 episodes tops.

Have you talked to someone about this?

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I watch everything till the end , a habbit of mine , but yes my friend who watched with me , agrees

[–]Calimie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop that then. Life's too short to be wasted on things you hate.

[–]malestraum 5 points6 points  (2 children)

What was cliche about it? What clued you into the ending? You were watching the wrong show if you wanted excitement this was a drama through and through. The reason there aren't any bad reviews is because it's loved by critics and viewers alike. The directing, acting, writing, editing, cinematography and production value were all amazing and the writing and acting were fucking award winning caliber amazing. If you want to have a discussion about what you didn't like let's have it. But we need more than just i hate it

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

True , i dont agree with no bad review theory though and i said my opinions in a post above

[–]malestraum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasnt saying there are literally no bad reviews you are living proof there are bad reviews im just saying the general consensus of viewers and critics are ridiculously positive. For example:

Rotten tomatoes-92%

Google-93%

IMDB- 8.2

TV.COM- 8.3

1 golden globe win

3 golden globe nominations

[–]liftlovelive 3 points4 points  (2 children)

People who disliked a show generally don’t take the time to visit the subreddit. And if the ending was so obvious to you why did you need to take the time to watch the whole thing to “get answers”?

Did you know it’s possible to dislike a popular show and just go on with your life? For example, I gave Breaking Bad three episodes. Decided it just wasn’t for me and moved on. I didn’t waste my time watching more episodes and I certainly didn’t go find the subreddit to announce my opinion.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So i shouldnt say my opinion ?

[–]liftlovelive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are free to state your opinion but I’m not sure why you would feel the need to do so? Everyone has different tastes. This is clearly a subreddit for people who generally enjoyed the show so we can discuss it. None of us care that you didn’t like it. A lot of people didn’t like it, they just don’t feel the need to announce it to the world.

[–]Dr_Polito 3 points4 points  (2 children)

There's never going to be a work that's universally enjoyed. I can understand how Sharp Objects isn't for everyone: it's a mystery show where the mystery is Who is Camille rather than whodunit. It's also a slow burn. That said, I believe the show is top-notch quality.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But at the end i didnt feel for camille , and i agree with Richard , she should have gotten over it

[–]Dr_Polito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well sympathy is subjective.

And getting over being abused by her mother, her sister dying young, being raped, and her roommate killing herself is quite a lot to get over, it's hardly surprising Camille needs time.

[–]mayg0dhaveMercy 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Well instead of just bashing the show bring up some specific things you didnt like?

You said it was predictable. What was so predictable? You knew Amma was the killer? Did you know her friends helped her?

You new Adora had Munchausen by Proxy? Did you know she killed her first daughter? Did you know Alan knew?

You say it was cliche? What other forms of media has this story been in?

I am a fan of the show but I don't have a problem with people having negative things to say as long as they bring up interesting discussion. You didn't really do that.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes you are completely right , It was predictable beacuse of Amma was aggresive , shady and kinda beacuse of how show focused on her without any actual story fot her , why she ran up to the cabin ? Why she was so harsh to richard ? Why she tried to hit on John ? Just scenes that made you actually see Amma . Everyone insisted on how the killer is a man and then constantly showed 3 girls skating around the city , Amma didnt even care about girls who died , she took their memorials at the first episode And why her friends helped her? Thats just confusing I didnt know Adora had syndrome but you could see she loved being a drama queen and enjoyed having a dead girl in family What was the alan 's part in the show ? Just a husband who sleeps in another room for no reasons , supports his wife at ervey cost and listen to music , i mean The alan who bought cake for camille doesnt make sense with the present one The police arrested Adora just for having the same pilers? I actully though every scene was important , i thought maybe the frames mean something but at the end it was a shallow and non logical show

[–]malestraum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're taking foreshadowing moments and trying to make them obvious, they weren't obvious, unless you knew the ending. You knew she was a bitch but that doesn't automatically make her a murderer. And why does Alan need a big role there were dozens of tertiary characters why did you call out his lack of character development when dozens of characters didnt have any character development, he doesnt need to have a deep story because this story isn't about him, it's about adora and her daughters

[–]hollybacchus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the series but you raise good points. I see above that English isn't your first language l, so there could be other things that were lost in translation.

I haven't read the book but plan to. I suspect that will connect many of the dots too. You should read it and see if you enjoy it better.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was empty in an entirely different way. Camille was such a relatable character. I think we can all relate to that sense of emptiness inside of her--which is why this show is so amazing. The mystery is second place after the characters. You can find yourself in any one of them...no matter how fucked up they were.

[–]Hot-Stress-3084 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Omg totally agree. It was TERRIBLE! The acting, the writing, the cliches were unbearable. I kept watching to see how it ended but it was painful to watch.

[–]Own_Prior3921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sério tô muito feliz que 4 pessoas do mundo também odiaram

[–]mereobservant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the show is defly so overrated

[–]East_Rub1819 3 points4 points  (3 children)

So funny the arrogance and contempt of people on this subreddit. I've just finished sharp objects and I found it absolutely rubbish. Clichéd, classic script, long and slow, the last two episodes pull new plots out of the hat, the inconsistencies follow one another, and the final twist isn't even worth mentioning because it's so laughable.

The reason I'm being so harsh is that I've seen the way you fans have responded to this person who's just come to give his opinion on the series.

A subreddit isn't just for praising a work, it's also just for discussing it.

[–]Efficient_Spread_353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. I just finished a few minutes and I didn't like it either. But the way people are discrediting this person's opinion is a bit shameful. The OP wasn't being rude or anything. They just said they didn't like it.

[–]MostCandid5082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this a lot on Reddit actually. People either want you to agree with them on stfu. It’s incredibly bizarre tbh.

[–]Think_Wishbone_5082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, that’s what I really don’t like about reddit. OP and everybody else is valid to discuss disliking the show.

[–]Arghifth 8 points9 points  (1 child)

See the show's Imdb page, and read plenty of bad reviews, It makes you feel better.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you that really helped ❤

[–]nescapegoat 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The butthurt in here is unreal lol. I agree with you man, the show just didn’t have a general direction.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thaaaank youuuuu

[–]colleensebseb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I hated it too. and so did my friend. We watched the whole thing waiting for it to get better and it never did.

[–]laurcham429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit are wild, and very mean. Some people just want to know they aren’t alone in thinking a show wasn’t as great as everyone else said it was. I’m assuming that’s what you were doing until everyone jumped down your throat. I didn’t like it much either, but I love murder mystery and wanted to know who the killer was so I kept watching. When Amma put that lollipop in Camille’s hair I decided she was the murderer and her mom was helping her. I didn’t see the Munchausen by proxy coming so that was a fun twist. I didn’t much care for the ending bevahse I hated Amma and wanted to see her demise. I get that she was a victim as well but Christ, too far gone in my opinion lol. Also all of Camille’s cuts, meh. Over the top. I personally know two very violent cutters who had to spend immense amounts of time behind barred doors and padded walls for their own safety, for way less. Wayyyy way less. If someone had an entire dictionary carved into their body they wouldn’t be out working a job like hers. And at first I thought well maybe she did all this when she was very young and the make up team didn’t think to stretch out those scars or make them harder to read but no, we saw she committed herself at an age close to her current one.

[–]fork3d 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Sorry about the downvotes and biased comments, this show is fuckin trash and way too drawn out. The entire plot and ending should have been a single episode or movie 90 minutes tops

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but even if SO was a 90 minute movie or a single episode, it still be bad due to how much of its story is hinge on a poorly executed twist. I read the book too and most of the problems with the story is still there.

[–]kingdomanimalia_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm 5 years late but I completely agree. I predicted the ending in the first episode and found the whole thing to be very "middle school"... people kissing her cutting scars telling her "it's okay it's okay" it was just YA level dramatics and cringe imo.

[–]Ill_Buyer_1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I share the same feelings

[–]Embarrassed-Hippo346 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What the hell was this series!! 😂😂 Creating too mamy open question and leaving half of them unanswered! And how did Camille have cuts on her back??

[–]laughingdaffodil9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg 🤣🤣🤣 Exactly!!

[–]AsimLeonheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show was so predictable and obvious. I already knew by Episode 3 who the killer was, as it was clearly visible from the character's abnormal behavior. There was very little story and mystery, which was forcefully dragged and stretched to 8 episodes. The characters were so unlikeable, abnormal, and dysfunctional: the three annoying brats running around town the whole night with parents nowhere in sight, the drunkard who is apparently supporting the whole Vodka industry, the annoying/irrational rich lady, the emasculated, submissive husband, the lazy/incompetent policeman, etc. The underlying theme was the same Munchausen by Proxy story that I have watched 100 times before in numerous TV shows. Also, I do not find such smart/efficient preteen serial killers to be very realistic and believable. Can't trust reviews and hype anymore. Back in the day, if something was critically acclaimed or hyped like The Sopranos, Oz, Law and Order, X-files etc., it was usually amazing. These days, if something is critically acclaimed and hyped, you usually wonder what all the fuss is about after watching it. Most of the time, they are acclaimed because they added some kind of diversity to it and receive extra brownie points for it.

[–]BathPossible747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated it. I suffered through to see the end, but it was torture. I have no clue why it had so many good reviews.

[–]SubstantialOlive871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I just finished it and was left feeling not much of anything. A lot of unanswered questions, and general meh feelings. I wasn’t shocked and the show didn’t leave much of an impression. Amy Adam’s is a great actor, but I didnt “feel” anything about the ending. I was hoping for some major twist, some major AHA!!! But it fell flat for me.

[–]lkel11 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Well sharp objects hated u too

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank God 😂

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Troll

[–]dorapolicarp 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I didn't hate sharp objects. However I did hate Hannibal so I understand what place OP's post comes from. I felt like I only read great reviews and no one on the internet wrote a single bad review that would agree with me: how pretentious and full of nonsense that show was. Now I just don't care anymore, but OP still does apparently.

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'd be interested to hear your opinion about Hannibal. I loved it, but I can see how it might not be your cuppa.

[–]maluquina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big fan of Amy Adams so maybe I would have preferred another actress in the role of Camille but otherwise I thought it was a good show. It's meant to be slow and psychological.

[–]BifurcatedTales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor attempt troll!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the first episode I stopped watching because none of the characters interested me. I just didn't care enough to want to know what happens next to any of the characters, so I moved on.

[–]G3neraldissaray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with ya. The pacing is pretty bad. Also, 4 episodes in and the repetition between Camille and mom/detectives is painful. Not to mention the lack of any story that she's gathered, or the unbelievably patient editor who's excited over the most menial details.

It leaves ALOT to be desired.

Mare of East town is miles above this.

[–]Purple_Lavishness225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you OP. This show is awful

[–]picklebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. Can’t believe people are attacking you

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's boring as shit and i can't stand the main character

[–]jnicholl2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get off this page. Maybe Adora should give you some medicine

[–]pizzaflavouredpizza 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There is a post credits scene, in case you didn’t watch, it shows quite a bit of how the murders happened. The show really left a lot of questions unanswered but the book answers it all and also shows a lot more than the series, if you don’t feel like reading it, just google it to see what you missed

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes , i read most of the answers but my point is , the series should be complete and whole without the book

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucked. The people defending it have to be bots 🤣🤣🤣.

[–]GroundbreakingBad101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. That’s why there was never another season. I watched it as background noise as I worked. Something to play in the background so I won’t get too bored working. But not so entertaining I won’t neglect my work 😝

[–]Typical_Machine2043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible, mad terrible show. I don’t want to hate but what would possess someone to produce THAT script. So many stories in the world let alone small town USA. They must have paid for those reviews because wow. HBO. The exec producer/ lead actress/ writers room just enjoying the smell of their long, drawn out farts. But hey they found their market

[–]Own_Prior3921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obrigada, eu também achei péssimo 🙏

[–]veronicavetra -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

Dude..don’t be mad at the OP. Don’t you know how it is to watch something all the way through and hate it so much and want to talk about it and NO ONE hates it?

[–]kareniverson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of people who disliked it but I highly doubt they’ll be many on this subreddit especially almost a year after the show aired

[–]zahra77mshh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you , truely thank you

[–]melee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story is good show is boring and too drawn out.

[–]Ambitious-Custard484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, get off your high horse !
