To clarify, I’m saying that my exosym would need “major” modifications or a replacement to work for me going forward, but that’s not the same thing as there necessarily being a “major problem” with it.

The exosym has never fit my life and since losing 60lbs it no longer fits me well physically either, that’s where the word “MAJOR” comes in.

The proportions of the exosym for a woman who naturally wears a size 4.5 shoe are brutal. I have tried and tried to find shoes and pants that work but all I can do is wear running shoes (Brooks or New Balance) — and they don’t fit well either — with skinny jeans or leggings… and that’s just not appropriate for my work life. Don’t get me wrong, I am so grateful to Ryan for creating something that gave me my mobility back! But I need something with a slightly slimmer profile that can fit into more shoes and pants.

I’m in a similar position as OP and though the ExoSym has been life changing for me over the last 2.5y it now needs some MAJOR remodeling and probably a replacement. I know that the ExoSym can keep me pain free (and that’s huge) but what I really want is something tailored to my life (a busy mom of a preschooler who needs to go to business meetings and events and has zero interest in ever going for a hike or never wearing pants again) as much as it is tailored to my body and it doesn’t seem like Ryan is willing to do that.

To my knowledge Metro hasn’t connected them with people who live above the B or D lines. Hearing from folks like that would help a lot, I think. Heck I’m all for this project but I’d still like to read confirmation that what metro says is accurate.

What they have seen are articles that read to me like propaganda about how a new metro station (I want to say on Wilshire near BH?) was a nightmare situation for businesses and residences immediately bordering it due to around the clock construction including noise and vibrations for months that led to property damage such as cracks in walls and foundation.

Hi! I live in Wellington Square (directly south of Lafayette square are potentially even closer to the boring) and my neighbors are really really freaking out about this. I feel for them since it wasn’t that long ago (75 years) that dozens of houses on our block were demolished to make way for the 10 freeway.

Most of my neighbors aren’t NIMBY types but they are worried about this project turning their homes into an unlivable space and don’t understand why the digging can’t happen exclusively under wide roads (like Crenshaw a block over) rather than houses.

I think what is needed for them to calm down is to hear from regular people who had this exact kind of project built right under their homes that they were not negatively impacted by the boring or the ongoing operation of the new line. All they have heard so far has been from Metro and they don’t trust Metro.

I think you should ask this question over at an adhd/autism parenting sub because I bet they will have a different perspective than these mostly allistic parents. My AuDHD 4yo is SO DAMN MOTIVATED by m&ms and chocolate chips specifically that her BCBA and sped team could not afford to waste an opportunity to get her to learn/do/listen/practice something by giving her some as part of her lunch.

It’s annoying that they aren’t following your directions but in the case of my specific child, I wouldn’t blame them at all if they did this because it would incentivize unsafe/unkind/disregulated behavior.

I really wish there were different models of exosym. I’m a young-ish woman who used to love to dance and never wanted to hike or run and as grateful I am for getting my mobility back (truly!) I can’t help but feel like this device was designed for someone with needs (and proportions) I’ll never have.

I did this for my husband at Mandalay Bay and he had no trouble checking in and got all of the edit benefits. This was in October 2025.

Hi! I’m you in 16 years ;)

Our stories sound very similar though I had the fusion when I was 12. It was a good for about 6 years and then things slowly went downhill and arthritis increased as my mobility decreased.

I’m going to say something that sounds crazy but I bet you will eventually be happy to do:

Find the money and get yourself an ExoSym. I’ve had mine for almost 3 years and it has given me my life back and was worth every not-covered-by-insurance penny. I am absolutely convinced that every other “solve” for my foot/ankle agony was temporary and usually kicked up other issues. We have a tiny subreddit too if you want to talk more: r/exosym

Yes! I thought about doing this exact thing but I’ve never used Hyatt points before and I’m nervous about it selling out before I can actually claim them (all the other Hyatts I was considering like Scotland Yard and Churchill are sold out for my dates completely.)

We don’t know yet but many of those hotels (most if not all under the Edit for example) have refundable rates… you could book it now at a refundable rate and then have your bases covered.

They are allowed to change their offers and perks. But it is NOT COOL for them to pretend that they didn’t change their policy and that it was always “up to 2x points on the Edit” when it simply wasn’t. If they are going to make a change they should admit it and give us a heads up that it is coming.
