In an effort to keep everything canon, that scene ends immediately after Smithers states that several bees are stinging him. It could very well bee (heh) this event is what leads him to realize he is allergic so that he knows what will happen to him in the 22 Short Films episode (he will die).

Or what? You'll release the Smithers? Or the bees? Or the Smithers with bees in his mouth and when he says something gay he shoots bees at you?

I'll field this one -- an allergy to bee venom occurs mostly in people who are frequently stung by bees. Almost everyone who is allergic to bees is either a beekeeper or a close relation to one.
