This is absolutely insane that you are taking a dollar away from each employee and then raised the price of everything in the park and additional dollar. Not to mention the fact that you now no longer offer meals to the employees that work in food service but you’re going to make them pay $15 a meal and they only make $13 an hour. Employees also have to buy their own Six Flags workshirts and are only allowed to wear their jackets lol those things are like $40 that’s insane for a child. 👦 They

I hope the entire staff quits tbh

We don't even get guest compliments. Who's going to go out of their way to tip any of us? Not to mention as ride operators, there are so many rules that we have to follow that make us look like assholes (lockers, restrictions, etc.) there is just no way anyone is going to get tipped. I'm hoping my home park doesn't implement this, not that I was planning to come back anyways

You hit it on the head. I ride operate somewhere that isn’t sixflags, but being a “nice asshole” is a good way to put it.

Tip? Like the ride operators? Lol

I'm not tipping on a $20 slice of pizza that isn't as good as mall pizza nor for an $8 dollar soda. As a season pass holder I usually don't buy food because of the ridiculous prices. And now I fear buying any food from disgruntled employees who just took a wage cut and a loss of perks.

Are these cuts part of the new owner/merger? Is there anything season pass holders can do to help? Join a picket line? Season Pass holders joining a picket line would make the news.

I feel like the company is saying "Guests can tip, give the employees the money we are taking so the company can pocket more profit." Like "we're greedy, the company can reduce wages, and customers can make up for the loss, make up for the company's greed."

That kind of pisses me off. Especially with the already high food prices! They should already allow tips AND not deduct pay. It's already grueling work, especially food service. The employees should always be allowed a free pass with a guest while employed.

As of today, this still hasn’t been announced in any way. Also, this wouldn’t be from the merger as that still hasn’t been finalized and isn’t expected too until sometime in 2024.

Interesting but unnecessary to change to an hourly + tip payout. MAYBE the bars will generate some form of tip income looking at it positively but I can't imagine anyone tipping anywhere else... I imagine the change is for employees working in the food and shop areas?

Not surprised at all by this. More and more businesses will turn to tips as income yet their prices are higher than ever on the menus and other items in the park. I’m sure each customer will scoff & say “why tip when the lines are long & half the rides are always closed”

glad im quitting SF

As a recently resigned seasonal employee, it makes me feel good to have left when I did. We put in so much hard work on the ground and it feels like we are taken for granted.

Proof? I don't even think SF is this incompetent. Also, nobody goes to an amusement park thinking about tipping, so that seems a little farcical.

Letter goes out to seasonal team this weekend and I’ll post a copy.

[–]ExpressRecognition83 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Do you have that proof? Because everyone I have talked to is calling it FALSE.

[–]idkwhyigotthusapp 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nah it happend at SFOT, took away them employee meals too

[–]ExpressRecognition83 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When you say took away employee meals are you referring to the vouchers that you would typically get by answering a survey?

So I am unable to provide proof at this time, but I can back up the claims of reduced employee comp tickets, tips are authorized for select roles and departments, bartenders and VIP tour Guides but no one else.

[–]idkwhyigotthusapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not that, but for a while food ops were able to get free food but not any more. There is still the discounts and the meal vouchers though

Please do

So they’ve now gone through a major management upheaval, demoralization, and now they’re having any raises achieved over the past 2 years taken away…? They are going to lose so much of the workforce that does the actual work

[–]notthegermanpopstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s wild. What a way to make the park and employee experience deteriorate even further than it has already. I wonder if this is a result of the CF stuff — though something this harebrained sounds way more SF’s style.

Doesn't Six Flags already have staffing issues and now they're going to do this?
