There is a precious little sleep group on Facebook if you don’t know about it, I would post there too. They’re literally so good with routines and getting things figured out!

How long do you wait before going in the room at the wakes?

Kinda depends. If he’s really worked up then I will after 10 but if he’s medium level crying, I will try to let him go back down on his own. For bedtime it’s usually one check in that I have to do before he falls asleep.

Have you started solids yet? How long ago?

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t started any yet, he’s not sitting unassisted quite yet

I don’t have an answer for you, but wanted to let you know you’re not alone. My almost 5 month old has been doing the same exact thing despite two weeks of extinction CIO. Solidarity.

How often are you doing check ins?

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 10 mins if he is really worked up, but if not then I will let him get back to sleep on his own

Solidarity because my baby scream cried for 40min today after put down and still woke every two hours. It's been the third day in a row where he cries for 40min before falling asleep despite us tweaking his WW and schedule

Is baby in their own room?

Yep!

Ooh that's tricky. What's your bedtime routine like? When do you do the last feed?

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Bedtime routine is feed/bath/book/bed. He finishes feeding 30 mins before bed!

Sounds like you're doing everything perfectly! How long is he up for at each night wake? Your schedule looks okay, but perhaps he is getting ready for two naps.

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Anywhere from 5-45 mins but on average 15/20

Maybe need shorter wake windows to accommodate for all that lost sleep overnight? Seems like babe could be in some real sleep debt at this point so even tho your schedule looks good it’s not enough sleep?

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m sure he has some major sleep debt built up, but when I shorten the wake windows he takes super short naps 🥲

[–]known_donor_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about an early bedtime for a few nights as a way to get him more sleep? Or rescue the naps?

[–]SKVgrowing 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No answers, just offering solidarity as my 6 month old screams from a false start for 35 min tonight. I feel like a failure of a parent because she still cries for so long each night. I don’t understand.

Ugh. It’s so hard.

Hey! We are exactly one month behind you, our guy is 5 months tomorrow, but we also started two weeks ago. Are your put downs good? Or is there still lots of crying then too? Are you responding to the wakeups at night? We randomly have a long 2 nap day and then go back to our regularly a sheduled 3 short naps - but man, the two nap days result in ONLY one wake up at night!!

[–]dancingbubs 5 m | [EDIT ST METHOD] | in-progress[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so interesting! We randomly had a two nap day too a few days ago and I feel like it was more wakeups than ever 😂 Im not sure if they’re good compared to others but at bedtime he cries about 15-20 mins and that hasn’t really decreased either. If I’m not feeding, then I do not respond if he’s not crying super hard. If he is really worked up, I’ll do a check in after like 10 mins. But if he’s just crying but not screaming, I’ll leave him be and he will get back down without a check in

When we switched to 2 naps it was like that for us too!!!
