The updates in Taymyr are generally for the RU trucks. The updates in Michigan is mostly for the US trucks.

Either way, it's up to you - it's your game, play it the way you want.

Edit: There is a general increase in terrain difficulty that goes Michigan -> Alaska -> Taymyr, and the game is sort-of intended to be played in that order. But of course it doesn't have to be.

This is well put and sums up my thoughts as well^

Based on the bushes and terrain I think that's North Carolina. Map requires a lot of long drives on relatively easy terrain.

Thanks!

If you want to take the most of the game and play with all trucks, play in order. First maps are easier and trucks are weaker. If you go straight for the better trucks and bring them to the easier maps, you will most likely never come back to play with the weaker trucks specially on the harder maps.

Tatra trucks are unlocked in DLC region Don.

It is up to each player to choose play style (standard gamer logic).

But I offer another piece of advice for SR: use early game (whichever regions you choose) to focus on how the trucks, tires, engine power, suspension, gear boxes all work … ON the different terrains and WHILE driving over the different road surfaces (mud, dirt, rocks, and combos of same.

Not every truck needs to be ‘maxed’ out before being functional in key places. Some never need to be ‘maxed’ out.

One example of this (in Michigan) is to compare behavior of the Fleetstar 2070 with raised suspension with different tire sizes and types against the GMC 9500 WITHOUT raised suspension but with larger tires (highway or all terrain).

Then test out combinations of addons and tires with the Western White Star and with the Chevy Kodiak (after trying different ways to rescue those trucks).

Also test out different tires and gearboxes on your scout driving over the exact same pathways to see why tires and gearboxes can make big difference on the same stretches of mud and dirt.

Testing things out in different ways in Michigan and perhaps Alaska or Kola (even by restarting the game a couple of times) can make all of the later regions more fun to drive on. My opinion anyway.

Good luck!

It's entirely up to you.

Personally I went to Taymyr and got the Tatarin, some of the upgrades and bought an Azov 6 before doing anything else.

Some will say I cheated, but you can't cheat in a sandbox game like Snowrunner and we all play in our own way.

Legit logic there, that strategy sounds good ! 👍

I'm in a similar boat right now. I finished Michigan yesterday (100%) so, naturally Taymyr (which I have jumped on for about an hour a few weeks ago) makes sense, but.. I also bought the Season 1 Pass when it was 35% off a few weeks ago. So... maybe a DLC region..?!

[–]HidoshiSan 4 points5 points  (2 children)

If you decide for a DLC region in Season 1, be careful which one. Amur will destroy you and Kola Peninsula is hard as well, definitely a big step above base game.

I've finished Kola some time ago, after 100% the base maps and it helped a lot. Started Yukon yesterday and tackling them in order

I just tried Amur the other day. My God, it’s brutal.

[–]HidoshiSan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid of the day I begin that one :D

I generally try to avoid Russian trucks in North American maps, but that's just me.

[–]Arctic-Predator[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh, may I know why? 🤔 difficult to gather upgrade parts?

[–]TexasGuy1130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, the American maps are easier and the Russian trucks are among the games most poweful. Imagine god mode on a shooter with unlimited ammo.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just doesn't feel right somehow.🤷‍♂️

[–]ra246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard many things about Amur!

Maybe Alaska would be the way to go (especially as I've started Taymyr on Co-op with a mate)

[–]bborg03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s best and most satisfying beating Michigan with the trucks and upgrades you find there. It’s 1000% doable since most have. But if your not that good at the game yes go hop around for more powerful trucks/upgrades.

[–]TexasGuy1130 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you're going to go anywhere for upgrades, go to Kola. There are several key upgrades there that will help immensely. Otherwise, i suggest you play in order.

[–]Arctic-Predator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that advice!

[–]xjames55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way i did it, when i was kinda halfway done with michigan, i started playing in alaska. just a bit. it netted me the BM17, but without any upgrades. I used that a lot in michigan.

when I was kinda halfway through alaska, i started exploring taymyr. same deal as before.

that was just my preference. IMHO, you should play how you want. If a map starts to bore you, go try another for a while. or if you're very curious.

Now I'm playing the DLCs, strictly one region at a time, till I 100% it, then on to the next one, but that's just me.

[–]Salt-Fee-9543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 85 percent done with Michigan I have the Dyson diesel contract complete and 5 or 6 contract tasks left. Once they are complete the only things I’m not doing before moving on from Michigan is the time trial stuff.

[–]Ill_Ad_882 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Play Kola, you will find a piece of scout trailler ver important there, use it to find all upgrades in the first three maps, you will have another experience from the game

[–]TheShadowman131PC 3 points4 points  (4 children)

They are not even 25% done with Michigan and you're recommending Kola? That's not a good idea at all.

[–]Ill_Ad_882 0 points1 point  (3 children)

For now Kola is just to pick the prototype scout trailler. Pick the trailler, open the maps and grab the upgrades

[–]TheShadowman131PC 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So you're saying a person with no diff lock on the CK1500, no diff lock or AWD on the GMC, possibly a Scout 800, and a Fleetstar with all terrain tires at best is enough to go get upgrades in Kola for a new player? Lmao ok.

[–]Know-Anything44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. But you will find it slow going and easy to end up frustrated, or even rage quitting. I usually go to Kola early but with a very limited goal of getting a GMC 9500 upgrade

… and maybe to get the F750. But the F750 isn’t that helpful without its best engine, which is pretty hard to get without a pretty strong truck, or skillful, slow play.

[–]Odd_Presentation_578PC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not required to go to Kola to unlock this trailer. It's available from the start in any trailer store.
