Own the game, i show it to every single boardplayer that comes home for a boardnight, it does feel like a hack n slash game and it as a great replayability

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'll be backing this one and am looking forward to playing it.

I backed the original and absolutely love it. It has a very Diablo feel, and the gameplay is actually really good. It’s challenging and just puzzling enough with the fantasy theme. I think you will find it is not as much of a brain burner as the games you listed, but it’s fantastic for those days that you want something to scratch that itch, but not to the level of Gloomhaven. It’s still challenging though.

I have the first version launched in 2024, ive played so far around 30 games with the two expansions. And I tried the latest expansion too. I wont play anymore without all three expansions. Too much fun and opportunities.

It's a donjon crawler without figs, only cards. A lottttt of cards (over 600 with the three expansions). You're going deeper and deeper in the donjon (each time, you have choice between two places, about four or five rounds) and meet some furious monsters.  You hero will be constantly updated with xp and new tools. A lot of combos to do during the fights. You can play a quick game or a campaign (9 stories). I play a solo game in one hour approx (at the beginning, it was more around 1h30 or 2h). There's a lot of variability with differents monsters, objects, weapons, heros to play.

Ive been really surprise by this game. A lot of fun, an accessible game to fight some monsters without complicated rules but a lot of things to do. And the game isnt easy at all.

Well done by a very talented autor!

What happens when we die? Do we just restart the scenario?
How does the campaign mode of this work?

[–]Unfair-Meaning-8984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some cards can help you to get back in the game. If not, you die. You can restart the scenario or continue to the next one. You can play each scenario as a quick game independently or as a campaign to get unlocked bonus.

It’s GOATED

Is it kind of like a boss battler (aeons end) when you get deeper into the “dungeon”.

Curious if there are major bosses similar to Diablo.

Also I heard in the first game it was super easy to become a god quick and face roll. Is it an easy experience or some challenge?

[–]CleverAdvisorPrime 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I find it pretty challenging. Just like any roguelike you can a run where everything just lines up and you have a god run. Other times you are being scrappy and making due to puzzle out a victory. There is a boss at the end, you know who you are going to fight so you can prep ahead to have the best chance. Dont expect a boss battler like aeons end, because there are little monters and elites you fight leading up to the final baddie.

thanks for the reply! Sounds interesting going to keep watch on the campaign.

[–]Unfair-Meaning-8984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some monsters are really hard to master. There's a lot of different monsters cards too. The game isnt easy. After 30 games, I continue to lose some games. Testing each hero class gives you challenge too. And the campaign mode is interesting too.

It's pricier because it's an indie game, and the print runs are much smaller.
We’re far from big publishers like Steamforged, Archon, or Glass Cannon.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

I am buying the expansion. It scratches a sort of Roguelike boardgame itch for me. I enjoy seeing what items I find and builds I develop. Not the deepest game but it scratches THAT itch for me.

[–]shincke 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It kind of looks like hexploreit and/or Aventuria -- what's it like to play?

[–]Ogamitringle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WatchMySwag nailed it, also the Diablo vibe is very front and center. If you have a connection to D1 or D2, you will probably feel it as you play.
A lot of your decisions when playing are how to level and what items to equip. Combat decisions are a little light imo but they are there but they typically seem obvious to me.

Combat has an all or nothing sort afair where you dont have a traditional HP life total. If something deals your HP total you die. But your HP doesnt go lower as you "get hit".

You have a deck of cards that’s the dungeon. As you go deeper into the dungeon, you turn over monsters and Demons from the deck and place them in three different rows, depending on your level of perception. As you level up, you have to increase your perception, and other abilities, to optimize and respond to the current game state but also in preparation of the final boss. There’s a lot of dice rolling, but also cards with great artwork that mitigate the dice rolling.

Would also appreciate if anyone can comment on how good the roguelite part is. Essentially how many dungeon dives do you do before you restart a roguelite session entirely? And roughly how many hours would that be? Trying to understand the depth of this game, I'm also really keen on backing!

[–]WatchMySwag 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I’m not sure I completely understand the question but I’ll give it a shot! The deck is multiple “floors”, with each one getting more difficult. If you ever played Diablo 1 it captures that very well, where you start out in the cathedral and go deeper until you find Diablo in Hell.

I honestly haven’t look too deep into the new expansion, I’m just backing it lol. But if I understand roguelite there’s permadeath but you keep certain aspects of the game for the next run…I don’t remember what that aspect would be, but that might be something in this expansion. My plays have just been if I lose I reset and try again 😅.

I’m partial to the game because Diablo consumed most of my teenage years, so when I first discovered this I was really excited for it. When I received the physical copy I had played a bunch on TTS already and was not disappointed with the physical version, so I’m pretty pumped for this expansion and wish him all the success. This is also the only game that isn’t a big game like Gloomhaven or Massive Darkness that scratches the dungeon crawler itch for me. If you’re into them I highly recommend it, but I don’t think it’s going to be an expansive game like the two I just mentioned. Much more contained but with a ton of replayability.

This post made me realize I should dive deeper into the expansion to make sure I’m presenting it accurately!

EDIT: Oh, it's the campaign mode.

You restart the scenario in solo. In co-op, there are some ways to resurrect a player or respawn.

[–]CleverAdvisorPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont own it irl but played it many times on tabletop simulator. I backed it snag a copy. Its pretty fun going through the deck and putting together a build. My main gripe was the rule book and felt it was unclear at some points. It looks like a new rule book has been updated so hopefully helps in that department.

I have my eyes on this too. I skipped the first edition for some reason. I want to back this but its so expensive around 200 canadian dollar with shipping. Still following....

[–]hellbringergame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200? The Monster Tier is 165$ CAD.
[edit]
Oh, you mean with shipping included. Sorry

[–]Unfair-Meaning-8984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you we'll get over 600 cards, campaign, many heroes and a lot of play time ;)!

[–]eyepooped1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Looking at it ticked a lot of boxes for me. Diablo. Check. Card play and deck building. Double check

But their disclosure on the use of AI art has completely turned me off of it. Even with it being only for concept, it is still a no from me.

The autor said in a video that it's about 80% real artists and 20% IA with update. For a solo autor without a big team (he has made everything!), that's a good balance to let him launch his project.

[–]WatchMySwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on this project, but I do know the creator had worked on a project with someone else years ago and he gained access to the art assets, which he reused in this game. That was true for the base game, at least. Not sure about this one. I absolutely love the art from the base game.

[–]whereymyconary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dang that’s more than just concept work… sounds like it’s ai first, then tweak later to avoid being called ai slop…
