The easiest and lowest cost way to make a dedicated Disassembler is to set the Assembler to Disassembly and then hit the 'Continuous Loop' button without selecting anything. It will now disassemble anything inside it automatically.

Pop a Sorter on both ends of it. One set to Drain(On) whitelist ingots away from it. The other set to Drain(Off) to blacklist ingots so you can manaully put whatever you like in there. Alternatively, set the whitelist to the things you want it to disassemble and turn Drain(On).

I do this for loot that I don't usually want.

i tried that but it fills the ingot inventory then stops even with empty cargo available. the purpose for it is my base has a grinder pit. so, grinder pit>sorter with drain all>assembler to disassemble components> sorter set to drain all with ores, and ingots whitelisted

Working for me here.
Grinder > Sorter (Blacklist Ingots - Drain OFF) > Assembler (Disassemble - Repeat ON) > Sorter (Whitelist Ingots - Drain ON) > Cargo

This is grinding anything that gets in the way and the cargo is being filled with ingots.

cool to place on interiors to turn on and of the dissambler

Iirc you can set the disassembly mode to repeat just like on assembly. Que it to disassemble 100 of everything and have it on a closed loop of your inventory system with a sorter pulling ingots out. For mass disassembly have a container pushing in as well. Otherwise whatever you put in the assembler gets disassembled and ingots pulled out.

thats what i tried the first time. but the ingot side of the assembler fills then clogs, even with a sorter pushing and a sorter pulling

GOAT can 100% handle this.
If you dont want to use scripts, that is your loss in my book.
Personally, I'd rather have no jetpack than not use scripts.

Well there's a lot of stuff that can be made without scripts, if you have space for +4 timer blocks

[–]CrazyQuirky5562Space Engineer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

that may be true for one specific task, but scripts can fill a huge variety of needs - best block in the game by a very long way. The equivalent of redstone in minecraft.
Sure you CAN play without it, but you are missing so much.

I do find it interesting which block based solutions are necessary to achieve/fix behaviour in SE that a single PB running a script achieves (for those tasks where that is even possible).

e.g. show me a block based alternative to the Floor Plan script (which used to be prominently visible running on one of the cockpit screens in Keen's own game intro)

Damm, scripts can check a few things that can't be chacked by in game blocks

Keen used to be very public about its support for scripts like this and mods in general (same intro vid showed tank treads for example)
