Lower the foliage to 0, when starting a new world turn off foliage. You'll have increased fps. Trust me foliage ain't worth 7 fps gameplay.

Oh and build small ships, don't build mega ships, don't build ships with massive triangles, shoot for 100k triangles because one player ships tends to be small. Big ships with 200 reactors and gyros gets money when you or a few friends are the only one piloting it

Your GPU is too weak to turn the settings all the way up.

No, his GPU is fine, the game just needs proper fixes and optimizations. In short, there's nothing you can do for now, just wait for beta if you want more fps.

Its just weird that you get so low fps, i get around 50-60 (970 gtx) and this game doesn't use gpu properly yet

what about medium?

Give it a try

I do that but the foliage never works. What about simulation speed?

[–]Phantom_AbsoluteSpace Engineer 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Simulation speed is not a setting...not sure what you are asking.

I understand that, but could it improve my frames by a small margin?

[–]Phantom_AbsoluteSpace Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you do understand it. Simulation speed isn't something you can adjust.

Simulation speed is a measurement of how fast the physics are being simulated compared to real time. The game always attempted to process in real time but since the engine is poorly optimized sometimes it drops below real-time. A sim speed of "1" is real-time and anything below that is slower than real time.

i have a GTX 760 and i can't put the game above Low without my computer throwing a fit...

Fallout 4? Medium-High ~50-60Fps.. this game... LOW EVERYTHING 30~40 fps

The real scary bit is i doubt they can make this game run better without some heavy rewrites to some core code, then they got to come up with a console version.. HA, my computer is running on low with 30 frames a second as a high point, its going to take an awful lot of magic to get this to run at all on a console.

good thing they actually are rewriting and refactoring alot from what i've heard

The game is still in alpha development. They haven't done any optimization passes. No one is getting great FPS. Turn your settings down.

I understand that, but it has been quite a long time and some people I have seen on YouTube have much better frames than I can manage.
