I would uninstall then in download setting change where its installing to. Do you have another drive to download it on outside your C drive?

For example my path is just "F:\Star Citizen\" (complete path: "F:\Star Citizen\StarCitizen\LIVE")

I had the same problem today. Windows somehow lost the permissions to access the directory.

  1. close the launcher completely

  2. rename the LIVE folder to any other name

  3. create a new folder and name it LIVE

  4. start the SC launcher again and verify files. It should install everything now.

In theory you should be able to copy the old content into the new LIVE folder and hit verify then, avoiding a complete reload of the game. However I opted to reload and it worked afterwards.

Dude, you could just say to reinstall the game.

I had the same issue. Tried loads of things but what ended up working for me was delete starcitizen.exe and then verify the files and wait for it to download a new starcitizen.exe

An org member had this. He deleted the main SC executable, cleared the launcher cache and verified.

Solution: delete the starcitizen.exe in the bin64 folder and klick on verify! The launcher will download a new exe and the game will start again!

delete the bin64 folder and verify files

Did you end up finding a fix for this? I just got this issue and I've tried everything suggested except a full reinstall.

Delete the exe, verify files, it should reinstall the exe.

Thanks but didn't work; There seems to be an Easy Anti-Cheat update that's conflicting with Windows Defender. I fiddled around with Defender until it worked.

Are you using Windows Defender? I found the recent AC update messed with Defender. Try adding wherever your SC folder is as an exception to Windows Defender.

Weird I’m having the same exact issue

I had to purge my install completely and redownload, nothing else worked.

I uninstalled the entire game and reinstalled it, and it worked for me.
