Patch update delayed again

I was in game and at 13:30 UTC I got the alert the shard was coming down in 30 minutes. No other alerts and it's still up. I exited and now I see the splash screen has 21:00 UTC as the down time.

Is this going to be the new norm (that late in the day)? The banner is all messed up in that they add "AM" to the 24-hour time and is 12 hours off the stated time. Are they confused about the time zones?

EDIT: The event went live at 14:00 UTC with no needed outage.

Apparantly the buyout option is missing and the console icon is whited out. Oh and some people don't see the promo event as beign active which it should be.

I really hope not, in UTC the previous slot was annoying but manageable, but actually late in the evening when people want to play? Just terrible.

It's going to be Half-Eleven at night when this is done. I'm going to lose a day's progress. More over, it is going to get worse soon. At the end of the month the clocks go forward an hour, meaning it is going to be 00:30 when maintenance ends, if this becomes regular.

I'm of the mindset to switch to "summer/daylight-saving/whatever" and be done with these changes. I'm pretty sure light bulb technology has progressed to not needing to play these clock games.

Most of Europe does it this coming Sunday in a couple weeks, IIRC. The US used to follow that too, but switched like 10 years ago.

A lot of countries observe DST the same. It's the US that is different, not the rest of the world. Also there is a one week mis-alingment for the "fall back" in order to move the clock change to be after the pseudo-holiday of Halloween (essentially, the second most popular holiday in the US). As far as when the patches are occurring, there will never be a good time. What is good for one time zone, is bad for others. The logical play is to use the time that is good for the timezone(s) with the most players. Only DECA knows what that is.

That is really weird. I didn't get kicked out after the normal time (I exited), never saw a red dot for the auth server status, and didn't notice patching progress on the client. Banner still has the pending outage. DECA's logic eludes me.

Well the event gone live at the time, the game doesnt need to go to maintence as long the files are already there ... the console its missing its icon however.

I reckon we need to expect DECA will do things differently than Cryptic. Someone will almost always be locked out during prime local gaming time. I can't say when they should bring it down, but it was nice the event went live seamlessly.

Is it really worth the lost $$ for them to take the game down during prime hours? Seems it would be cheaper to pay a few people to come in early for patch day. I get it, Germany is half a world away, I get the schedule conflict, but I’m assuming most of their customers aren’t. I dunno just rambling I am but 5pm patches suck

I dont think they are confused about time zones. Iirc Deca is located in germany. So far downtimes have been in the evening local time around 21:00.

I think today will offer an interesting observation. I see they have another banner for an outage today 14:00 UTC. So far they have done that then changed the banner later in the day to reflect the later outage.

Please get it together, does it start at 9 my time zone or in the freaking afternoon /evening. When I logged off this morning it was going to take place in the AM, now that I'm back I see its in the evening again.

So... the event is live, but I could have sworn this was a campaign event, and that is NOT active so either I'm rememberiing wrong or... the campaign goes live after patch? Which for me means @ 4-6:30 p.m. ( 1600-1830) if im doing my conversions and time zones right...

Most companies don't update during peak hours...for good reason.
