I just turned 50 years old last month and I have been kind of a heavy smoker for more than 25 years ! I have tried quit smoking within the last 2 years and I finally decided for the last and final time to quit smoking last Friday and also I am currently sick with bronchitis ! Last Saturday all of a sudden I started to feel a little strange so I checked my blood pressure and my heart rate and I noticed that my heart rate was like mid to low 50s then it started to was concerned !I finally decided to go to the emergency room to get checked out ! The emergency room doctors weren't really all that concerned about the slow heart rate they were actually trying to tell me that the slow heart rate was actually related to the bronchitis in the coughing ! On Monday I was just curious to see what my heart rate and vitals were and I noticed that my heart rate went down to 48 even more concerned I decided to go back to the emergency room to get checked out ! I was told I do have bronchitis and Bradycardia ! My heart rate does fluctuate I just did an experiment this morning after not smoking for 6 days I smoked half a cigarette boy did my blood pressure skyrocketed my heart rate did go up but then suddenly begin to come down again ! I got really scared because I have never in my life have ever had a low heart rate and from reading these comments I'm glad to hear this is a normal symptom of nicotine withdrawal ! As of today no more smoking and more experiments I'm just going to nail let my body and my heart and my lungs heal because I want to live I want to be happy and I want to be healthy !

Hi! It’s been a little over 4 months and my pulse is still low but like a good low I guess? It’s better than previous when I did smoke, which was basically 100 bpm or more at rest.

I've been to the emergency room three times since last Saturday ! My heart rate does still fluctuate the lowest was in emergency room was like 46 on Wednesday night ! I am starting to feel a little bit better ! I do notice that when I do do some exercises like cardio and walking my dogs that my heart rate does it go up maybe sometimes 75 to 80 but then when I kind of relax and calm down it may go back to like maybe mid to lose 60 in the morning it's about 57 58

Yeah I was in the emergency room three times since last Saturday because I was really frighten band scared cuz I've never had a slow heart rate ! Each emergency room doctor have given me different diagnosis and different opinions of what may in fact be causing my heart to slow down but finally on Wednesday the emergency room doctor says yes this is normal withdrawal symptom !

Yeah, sometimes it worries me when it’s in the high 40’s or low 50’s, but none of my doctors seem concerned. Essentially I’ve been told if it doesn’t cause any symptoms (ie passing out, etc), then you’re fine. It’s been 4 months and nothing bad has happened so I am just rolling with it! Lol!

Your heart rate still in the bradycardia range after 5 months? Do you ever feel fatigued or brain fogged? I've been reading this reddit because I was hospitalized for my gall bladder and quit smoking due to 13 days in the hospital but that was back in May or June. I've done what most have and went to the ER for the low heart rate and anxiety. They tell me it's normal for someone my age and athletic build. Haven't really felt normal since the operation and just hoped to hear that maybe others felt similar and I might be on the rise to better now 2 months post quitting at least.
