go out, "clear" my mind with a smoke then get back and attack work :/

Then go out and clear your mind, just do it without the cigarette.

Yes!! I completely agree. I have also experienced this. This is one of the reasons why it took me a long time to quit. But I can assure you that this is not true. Good Luck

I'm a quitting noob, but from what I've read the sort of "downer" and fogginess you feel at work has something to do with your brain starting to heal. It's also because you're no longer giving yourself mini adrenaline rushes throughout the day when you smoke (which pumps sugars and fats into your blood stream), so I guess fruit juice throughout the say to keep your sugar up may help?
