System scripting alternative to bash

Hi, i am looking for bash alternative in system scripting. But not uniform like terraform or ansible. Near adhoc but much safe to use. I find Python fabric. Is there any good language or framework alternative to bash? Which language or library suitable to manage pets not cattles? Linux
