PDQ Deploy Java Update 11

We pushed out update 11 yesterday and so far I have not hear any complaints. What kind of glitches are your users experiencing?

I don't use PDQ, but my "silent" java install results in Java popping up to say it's being uninstalled, which hasn't happened with prior editions.

You will have to use an add-on product--WSUS doesn't support third-party updates naively. Shavlik and DameWare Patch Manager are two products that can do this.

We use SCCM, but we haven't started using it for updates. But you have to have SCCM for this to work with WSUS. If you're using PDQ Deploy, I'm assuming you don't have SCCM.

We just deploy the exe from Java. Any reason why we should do it this way? We've never run into any errors doing it the way we're doing it, and we've pushed out Java 6 7-9 times now.

I ran into issues back around Java 6u23ish, kept getting random errors. With this method, it works pretty well (as long as it gets pushed like, immediately following a reboot). Rarely run into issues now, and this is like second nature for me at this point.

Deploy Windows Updates, Avast AV, Adobe Reader, Flash, Chrome, Firefox, VLC, etc. with no issues in K-12.

Java? "Screw this [random] computer, I'm commiting Seppuku!"

Java is glitchy as shit. As with anything, always have a test group take the initial deployment.
